Pruitt Staffers

If he's a great recruiter and a great TE coach then Pruitt needs to go get him.

We need all the great recruiters we can get.

VFL...GBO!!!

Question, was the NCAA allowing an extra coach starting this year or something like that?

Q about Helton: is the offense Brohm and Helton ran at WKU similar to what they run at USC? What do we expect him to run here? I didn’t see a Purdue game this year but repeatedly heard how innovative Brohm is. USC on the other hand seemed to run a pretty standard (though successful) collegiate pro style offense.

From everything I’ve watched of the WKU offense it looked very similar to our offense this year but much more successful obviously, under center some but mostly spread concept, checks at the line no huddle shotgun... so who knows I guess?

I read several really good USC articles a couple of days ago from this fall. In the past 2 years, the USC offense has been very diverse.

The articles basically said that their offense was diverse and multiple. It’s a mix of several different styles and not leaning on one specific type. Helton said they’ve run the Spread, but didn’t use 4 wide out of it. They’ve run basic Power I and variations of it out of different formations. They also have a pro set passing game. They’re QB can run out of most formations.

He also said they scheme and play off of the defenses’ tendencies and also what fits USC’s personnel. They also can call 2 plays in the huddle, and the QB has the option to read and choose which one he wants. They went hurry-up after the first few games this year and caught some teams off guard.

The simple answer is that they are very multiple. They run a diverse offense and scheme based on which offense will work best against specific opponents.

Sounds GREAT to me.....(sure am going to miss seeing our running backs running across the face of the QB into a wall of defenders though...#infallible)

Tennessee: Source tells FootballScoop Tyson Helton will have the offensive coordinator title at Tennessee.

Tennessee: Troy director of operations / high school relations Todd Watson will join Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee sources tell FootballScoop. Watson and Pruitt coached together at Hoover High (Watson as defensive coordinator and Pruitt as special teams coordinator). Prior to joining the staff at Hoover High (where he was part of 4 state championship teams in 5 years), Watson served as head coach at Foley High for 10 seasons where his former players include Julio Jones and DJ Fluker. At Tennessee sources tell FootballScoop Watson’s title is likely to be director of football operations or similar.

So, with Watson joining the staff, how many assistant positions are left? Does Pruitt get 10 total assistants (with the 10th coming in Jan) including coordinators? I haven't tracked coaching in the past like I am this time around.

You will get 10 on-field assistants starting in January. That includes coordinators and coaches that can coach on the field during games. Strength and conditioning, support staff, and QC coaches do not count towards that limit. They are not allowed to coach players during the games.

I would think Watson is likely going to be an analyst that doesn’t count against the 10 assistant limit. Same for Brian Niedermeyer [insert Animal House reference here].
