Pruitt Staffers

I would like to have seen Thigpen kept as Linebacker coach. He made players from nothing to something. Also a hell of a recruiter!

This has to be a joke, right?

Recruiter, maybe but our LBer’s have been terrible.

Thig was a pretty good LB coach. AJ Johnson, Reeves-Maybin, Kirkland, and Maggitt were all decent players. He got the most out of Jumper as well. Injuries and off the field issues were more problematic than his coaching.

Thing was the worst coach they had on staff, he didn't recruit even though he was supposedly a recruiter and his units were junk. JRm and Kirkland were about it, we would sign 20 DB's and like 3 LB's, that Is pretty much his recruiting. We had to have Jumper for gods sake playing tons of minutes at LB he was the worst starter defense or offense I have seen in 30 plus years! Kid might have been able to put the defense into their alignment or whatever but he didn't make a play half the time and that's on one of the worst defenses Ut has ever put on the field. Should have gotten rid of Thig same time as they got rid of Martinez!

I think CJP hung unto one coach in Gillespie for continuity in recruiting and will not retain any other coach from the previous staff as they are all infected with losing!

Our LB corps has been a mess under a Thig. Supposedly recruited all this talent with virtually no results.

Thig’s been a weak link for a while. Hasn’t been the recruiter he was billed to be, and LB development has been poor.

Oh I'm not sure, doesn't him and Watson pretty much do same thing with their teams? Why would both come?

Don't think it's completely the same.

I think Thomas also does more with NFL relationships.

I think Watson is more tied into the high schools of Alabama, while Thomas is tied into high schools in Tennessee

When will these staff additions be officially announced? I know Fair, Gillespie, Friend, and Helton have been on the road recruiting for us. But what about Sherrer, Rumph, and Rocker?

I would take Helton all day over Tee. Better recruiter and Coach.

I don't know where you're getting your info from, but Tee and Nansen (responsible for bringing in our Poly players - we have 16 on our roster) are by far our best recruiters.

Coach Clay Helton is the big closer though, parents love his sincerity and decency.

Can someone that has been keeping up with all of the coaching hires put an update on here for the coaches that are on Pruitt's staff?
