Punting Woes

What the hell is wrong with you people today? This is almost as bad as the "Advisory Board" thread....

The dude had a bad punt, what about all the good ones? Does he get punts blocked? Learn to research data before making stupid threads
I did, he’s second to last in the SEC and dead last in net average. You do research

On the season, 44.6 average (38.8 net). None blocked. These are good results. No need to replace, IMO. Plus, Turbyville is kicking off on average about as long as Fuad Reviez did on his best kicks. Gilbert has been money. We don't have a kicking problem.
38.8 net average is dead last in the SEC

The stats are misleading. How many times have we punted from the 40 trying to pin it inside the 5? When that is a touch back it hoses the net yardage.

How many times have the punters ahead of him had to do it? How many return yardage has each team given up?

There is a lot more to the stats than just numbers. Have to assess the situations as well.

We need a new punter. Florida would never have been in a position to tie the game if we didn’t kick a short line drive RIGHT to the returner in the 4th. We need to stop trying to be smarter than everyone else with this rugby style BS, or again, just don’t kick it right to the dude on a frozen rope.

lol worst take possible. Our punter is amazing

Back to back bad punts when we really needed his best to ice the game is not a way to win hearts, minds, or ballgames.

His style is difficult to get after and lets us be versatile and more dangerous in different ways… it’s not about net punt yards all the time. He hasn’t had any really bad shanks, and he has set up our defense very nicely with a lot of yards at their backs in some key situations. The kid is doing just fine.

I thought he mostly had a good game. He pinned Florida deep in their own end twice. Can we just not enjoy a win over a bitter rival and appreciate the guys that made it happen
No, people like the OP absolutely can't. The two line drive punts were with his heels on the endzone line. That has a tendency to alter the results to a degree. To each there own, I guess. Maybe the trainer isn't very good at their pregame massages. Maybe the equipment manager didn't have the pads properly adjusted. Hey, I know, maybe the pregame meal wasn't properly aligned with the player's aura Saturday.

Exactly, the OP makes a valid point about the last 2 punts, low line drives right to the returner for significant returns at crunch time.

I wouldnt have titled it we have a problem at punter, but it is certainly a legitimate criticism.

If we had won by 3 TDs this same crowd would have dismissed the win because "UF sucks" and would have focused on every slight misstep.

A wise man once called them the Legions of the Miserable.

Why have we not seen a fake yet? The guy runs like a 4.5.
probably because our play calling never has any trick plays... it's boring in some ways. Probably another reason we are being stopped so easily the last few weeks
