Purdue's Matt Painter takes the Mizzou job (or not)

Last summer, Painter received an eight-year contract extension that will pay him from $1.3 million through more than $2 million a year with incentives. Missouri has reported to be poised to offer Painter $2 million a season for seven seasons.

Local sports radio here in Central Indiana is reporting Painter will stay at Purdue. Not the most reliable source I know but it just came across the air. We'll wait and see I guess.

Purdue to Mizzou is a downgrade.

And when my son heads to Purdue in 2 years, if Kevin "The Office" Stallings is the coach, I will refuse to root for them.

C'mon man. You wont root for your son just because of who the coach is? Rubbish. Sounds like something a UK fan would say.

I don't think he is implying his son will be playing for Purdue, just going there for engineering.

What he said. Stallings sucks, and Purdue just set themselves back by letting Painter go to freakin' Mizzou.

Stallings has a good returning and incoming class. He's staying at Vandy.

Wow if this happens. I was laughing at a couple of Mizzou friends who said they would get Painter. No way he'd leave Purdue I told 'em. Oh well.

I'm blocked from Twitter at work, but isn't this the same guy who incorrectly reported he was leaving for Mizzou a couple of days ago?

IF Painter leaves (nothing confirmed yet), Purdue will have an EXTREMELY hard time replacing him after setting a precedent of not giving their coaching staff the resources to compete for titles.

Plus we stole their top choice.
