Put this loss on Golden.

No, I'm not guaranteeing anything I've just made the assumption that it might be worth a try to start that rotation once and see if it works. The tweaking of the lineup payed dividends before. Although Washpun is young I think with increased PT and oppotunities to get better might benefit everyone. Washpun IS the better ballhandler of the two though, right now.

this is all i needed to read to realize that you obviousliy are a fb fan that tuned in for the ky game and made a decision on our pg. i say this because if you had watched ANY of our earlier games this year you would not be making this remark.

Be sure not to miss the point and reread my post. Washpun and Golden starting. Golden will score even easilier at 2 G, while we wouldnt need points from Wes, just the chance to run the offense and not turn the ball over in crucial situations ala Golden. Tre could still run some PG when washpun would sit. Freeing up Golden to score 25-30 pts at 2G takes little away from Washpuns 4 points and say 4-5 assist and lower turnover margin. "Sir."

i can stop reading your post at the part where you say give wes a chance to run the offense, sir. he has been given that chance, once again i ask have you not tuned in to earlier games?

l3rewski...did you take photos at the KY game? Or was that a game that did not have photo options?

I did. I actually got on with the AD. I will be shooting with them, and doing other stuff from now on. It's going to be a fun gig... access to great equipment, and I'll eventually get an All Access credential. Unfortunately, while I still own rights to the pics, I just can't go posting them around the web, so no more pics of the game threads.

You can check em out on utsports photo galleries though. There's 4 of us shooting, so you'll have to look for my name in the caption. Most of mine are of Jarnell.

On a positive note I3rewski, when will Stokes crack the starting lineup? Kid is a man among boys. He was even better saturday than I thought he'd be. :)

That's a good question. I'm definitely curious to see how much PT he gets on Wednesday. He may not get the start for a while, but I'm sure his minutes will increase significantly in the next week.

Yes I watch EVERY game thats televised. And once again Golden's terrible ballhandling lost the game for us...for the 2nd straight time just like he did against Miss State, sir. :eek:k:

Golden isn't a true PG. I honestly might try starting Washpun at PG and start Golden at SG where he should be playing. Wash,Trey,Tatum,Maymon,Stokes would be a nice weapon of starters in my opinion. Thoughts VN?

If you honestly think Washpun would be an upgrade over Golden then you haven't watched this team that much. It would be a disaster.

so then you watched the games in which when wes came in the team immediately pressed and turned him over multiple times? the book is out now on wes, when he comes in the opposing team is right up on him pressing him, he cant dribble. if you think golden cant handle the ball then you would shoot yourself watching washpun try and dribble with his right hand.

there is a reason that wes isnt even seeing any playing time you realize right? it would be different if he was actually getting time at the backup point and showing us something, but coach martin was forced to go with josh richardson and cam tatum as back up point. that should tell you something about just how good wes is at the point.

from what coach martin said today i am going to guess stokes will see about 22-25 minutes off the bench wednesday. saturday against uconn we are going to need him big time, i am gonna go on a limb and say about 28 minutes saturday and will be starting the following week. just my guess.

Sounds good, I wouldn't be surprised if CCM starts Jarnell against UConn.

Seriously guys, just don't pay altidore17 any attention. I bet he is one of the ones that was complaining after the Miss St. game about Golden taking too many shots as well. Can't have it both ways champ. Yeah, he didn't shoot well, but was this loss because of him? No it wasn't. Poor shot selection by several members of the team in the last 4 minutes was our downfall. This includes Tatum and Woolridge. I could also bring up the 2 turnovers from Stokes in the latter part of the game as well. This goes to show that this 3 point loss does not fall on the head of one player.

Altidore17, instead of making yourself look like an idiot, all while representing the UT fans in a poor manner, you should take up a hobby. Perhaps knitting, or possibly being a UK fan. You seem to have a lot in common with most of them. The constant ignorance, and being oblivious to facts and the rational behind team sports can be held in the same standard as the state north of the border. :(

That's Braves fans for you... :)

It's safe to say that the point guards negated each other in this game. Plain and simple:

3PT
## Player Name FG-FGA FG-FGA FT-FTA OF DE TOT PF TP A TO BLK S MIN
25 Teague, Marquis.... g 3-8 0-0 1-2 0 1 1 3 7 1 5 0 1 38
11 Golden, Trae........ g 1-6 0-3 0-0 0 1 1 2 2 6 2 0 0 31

Teague had more points and more turnovers. I don't think you can say Trae didn't give effort. Kentucky's guards had to work for everything they got, and it wasn't much. Trae distributed the ball and didn't turn it over. His point production didn't win the game for us, but the way he led the offense gave us a chance. The offense, for both teams, on Saturday was clearly in paint.

Golden leads the league in assists per game, has a good a/to ratio, and his scoring average is one of the best in the league. He's had some horrible turn-overs and occasionally makes bad decisions (see Pitt and MS St. games). He's a good point-guard. Plain and simple. He has areas of his game that need to improve. And this talk of Trae being a 2 guard playing point out of necessity, while valid, is an excuse at this point. If he has aspirations of playing professionally, it's not going to be as a SG. He has the skills to be a good point-guard at the next level. He just needs to get better. It's that simple.

This talk of no effort, though...I don't see it. Defense is all about effort, and this was one of his best defensive performances of the year. He's been a defensive sieve for the majority of the year (see any game this year where he made the opposing PG look like CP3). Major improvement his greatest are of need. Like the rest of the team, he's learning and getting better. Encouraging.

I'm pretty new to this site still, but i am picking up quickly on which people to just flat out ignore. i am just confused if it's people that are honestly this stupid, or are they just so bored with their life they say the dumbest thing they can think of to get a rise out of other people. i have yet to figure out which one it is yet?

Nah, I think these posters feel they have valid points, but they're just completely oblivious. Ignorance, not stupidity IMO.

he needs to be in at pg because he is our only choice but he needs to be told in the final 2 minutes SLOW DOWN, get the ball inside first then go from there.
