Put this loss on Golden.

I felt bad for Golden because he got hos first shot blocked, slipped again on the court, and couldn't get anything to fall. He didn't seem to be himself yesterday, but he is a vital part of this team.

just out of curiousity who would you like to start at pg instead of golden?

Can you read? I never said he shouldn't start. I said the UK loss is on Golden and it is because he gave NO EFFORT. Let me repeat NO EFFORT. One more time since you're having trouble, NO EFFORT.

i can read just fine but usually if you whine like a little girl about a certain players causing your team a game you would have an idea as to how you would like to fix the problem. this isnt the only game you have complained about golden so clearly you are not satisfied with his pg play so as i was saying instead of acting like a little beoctch about it do something...what would you do?

I've got an idea of how to fix it. Give more effort? Act like you want to be there? Washpun may suck but he leaves it all on the court.

I couldn't agree more..So Golden didn't have his best game, but is the reason we got most of the wins...Remember he hasn't had that much experience at this level in the amount of minutes, so he will continue to grow...If u are looking for someone to count on night in, night out, that should be Tatum (he's the 5th yr senior) who has had planning time the entire time...Not dogging him or any other player, they played hard...We lost a freakin basketball game...Nothing more, nothing less

fair enough. if you are going to say that golden needs to give better effort then you also need to ask for a senior like cam tatum to give better effort, and definitely mcrae, hall would also fall into that category. about the only people on this team whos effort you can honestly be happy with so far has to be skylar mcbee and jeronne maymon, and i guess stokes a little early to tell though.

I'm still perplexed as to why yall keep bringing up his poor shooting? This has nothing to do with performance and everything to do with effort as I've stated numerous times in this thread. People's reading comprehension (or lack thereof) is very surprising to me.

I give you a reply on what may have been behind him walking the ball up the court and you chose to ignore it. I just threw the scoring part in their because it was mentioned in a prior post.

Golden is still learning how to be a PG. This shouldn't be any surprise. Heck, we haven't had a good PG since Watson. Maze was ok, but Golden doesn't have the speed or the experience to be great. He is what he is. He'll be a solid player for us in 4 years. Not great, but a good 4 year guy. I can deal with that. Martin just needs to find another point guard.

i feel like if he can really try and increase his quickness in the off-season, with the experience he got this year, he could be an elite pg. he has the scoring ability that is a nice compliment and he excels in that area, he does a good job finding his teamates and the fact he leads the sec in assists has to say something. for being a guy that really has only about 3 months of playing pg under his belt i am very happy with what he has done. he gained a lot of muscle and toned up this year and has a very strong upper body, he may need to drop a little bit of that weight to gain that quickness i am not sure, but if he can get quicker i truly think he can be an elite pg.

I agree.

Because of the fact you have an ETSU education your post doesn't do much for me. If you're ok with starters giving subpar effort you go right ahead and cheer for it. I'll continue holding our division 1 athletes to a higher standard.

Tatum scored 16 points. Golden had 2. You are an idiot to bring up Tatum's name in this conversation because he played great. This conversation is about the UK game and the UK game only.

Please return to the shadows and don't run your mouth until you actually have something productive to say, which judging by the quality of your education could be awhile. Thanks champ.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to be hammered that hard Altidore17. You really got me good on that one. I am really sorry for having questioned your obvious basketball expertise. I really shouldn't have done that with my college education. How dare I go to a school for athletics, and to get a free education. I'm pathetic. :swoon3:

I really am such an idiot for bringing tatum into this argument. Clearly he played great given he had 16 points and all. Points scored should really be the only stat that justifies how hard a player plays, and whether or not they played well. I'm just going to ignore the fact that he had poor shot selection in the clutch, and gave up a lot of points on D. Also, I really need to rethink Golden only giving up 4 points to gillcrest on D, and having 6 assists. I am such an idiot.

Look Altidore17, Yeah Golden didn't play his best game, but to say that this game is on his shoulders for only scoring 2 points is laughable at the least. When it comes down to the x's and o's, basketball is a team game. The FACT is, there were 8 poor shots within the last 4 minutes. There were also 2 turnovers within the last 6. That is the reason we lost the game. Not two points by a point guard that accounted for 10+ during the span of the game, including assists, who also played good D against a top 5 NBA draft prospect. Also, if i'm not mistaken, what would happen if Golden scored 20 points, and didn't play good D against Gillcrest? Oh wait, that is right, basketball is played on two sides of the court.

I'm not going to go into taking personal shot about your life because that is childish, and shows that you have nothing good to support your argument outside of verbal retaliation. Yes, Golden did not play a good game. However, you are wrong to blame it only on him, when there are 10 other players for UT that were in the game. You know what, I think that I'm going to blame this loss on Maymon, because he was blocked twice, and both of those instances lead to scoring plays for UK. That was the difference in the game right there. Yeah, that has a solid foundation, I think i'll stick with that.

Have a great day sunshine!

Too many turnovers from the team aside, this kid showed absolutely NOTHING today. Plays with no heart, no hustle, no fire. If I were Cuonzo I'd bench him and let Tatum play point guard like he did today. Absolutely horrible effort and unacceptable against the #2 team in the country and our huge rival. Piss poor.

Wow...one of many idiotic posts that have adorned the pages here at Volnation here lately. Log on here and they just keep getting better and better. Plays with no heart, hustle, desire, give me a break. Tatum at point, well, that pretty much says it all.

I disagree. He has all the tools to give other teams nightmares. I don't understand why everyone is so hard on him. He's an instinctive player and likes to take some risks. But his talent level could be scary good if he can just find some consistency.

Just imagine if Dwight Miller would have came in and scored 16 points. Altidore17 might have wanted him to play point.

Again, Golden's effort wasn't an issue. Played hard all day.

Just didn't play well offensively.
