PWO's

There's a lot of banter over UT getting or not getting scholarship signees with top end talent. But can those with more roster/recruiting insight speak to the quality of PWO's UT has gotten in this cycle? According to a different site, Jamar Price who was previously committed to play RB for AFA has now accepted a PWO offer from UT.

I just do not remember a class in the past where UT got this many PWO's who had legitimate offers and interest from other good FBS programs. Is it just more reporting or is this a change?

Jamar Price on Twitter: "After a great visit I’m blessed to receive a PWO offer to the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Go Vols!🟠⚪️@CoachMack_Tenn @coachjoshheupel @Coachward1 @CoachLashSr @JSQUARED @JustinStrain5 https://t.co/b1AxZqyIes" / Twitter

Jamar Price has "received an opportunity to play at Tennessee". I'm not sure what that means. Is he committed or not?

Yeah. I was shocked when I saw a kid with his 100 m time as a PWO. Even if not P5, there has to be schools who would have given him a full ride.

You never know what the hierarchy of factors involved in these decisions is for any individual. If getting a shot at this level or playing for this school rates above saving some money on tuition and other expenses, he and his family get to make that call. Mr. Shuler has already shown us it is sometimes. We have a really nice PWO group but they are not locked in yet and some will be subject to change for a while. We cannnot know if it is the right decision or the wrong decision, just that it is a decision. I have no idea what his or others financial position is, and now we have the new variable of NIL it is even murkier. Don't know what his second choice was, or how their total out of pocket costs including game attendance costs would stack up compared to coming here. Hope it works out for him, even if means he uses the portal after taking a shot that was important to him. Would prefer an All-American career here.

I think NIL and portal changes everything. On top of that is UT's management of their self-imposed penalties. After spring semester if I understand correctly, they will potentially have some open scholarships.

I guess in time we will get used to the new world....

I read an article that made it sound like he was a Vol. He apparently has eczema which created issues for him attending AFA. If he wanted to be a pilot, I think that's something that would prevent him from being flight qualified.

We got another one. Hunter Barnes, a lot of the kids are out of the west end of tennessee... Mack has his name attached to a lot of them. It seems like we're basically stealing UM's recruits which is fine with me. They recruit better than Vanderbilt.

I agree with all that's been said about the surprising number of PWOs over the last couple of days. Sure looks like some talented recruits. Glad to see that the Vols are where they want to play. Last season, there were quite a number of WOs who played. I guess the word is getting out. Best of luck to them.

Watching his highlights...this kid can play. Was a coup to get this guy as a PWO..
Yeah I just watched his highlights. All around stellar athlete with receiver hands. I definitely preferred his LB part of the reel. Looking forward to seeing how he translates to SEC ball at Tennessee!
