Man Some Believe is QAnon Announces Congressional Run

Ron Watkins, who along with his father facilitated the rise of the QAnon conspiracy theory, announced plans to run for Congress.

On Thursday, Watkins filed a statement of interest with the Arizona secretary of state expressing a desire to run for the state's 1st Congressional District, the first step toward running for public office. He later released a clip on Telegram of himself sitting in front of the secretary of state's office chastising incumbent Rep. Tom O'Halleran, a Democrat, as "Tom O'Hooligan."

"I've come to realize that following God's word is not always the easiest route, but if we don't follow our beliefs and the founding principles of our nation, it will crumble. This must stop now," Watkins said. "Therefore, I have decided to double down with God as my compass to take this fight to the swamp of Washington, D.C. I am here to formally announce my run for Congress in Arizona district number one."
