Sources close to Jackson's recruitment have indicated that Tennessee has continued to emerge as the team to beat for him. I made a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast Wednesday for Jackson to choose the Vols, who are searching for a quarterback for their first recruiting class assembled by first-year coach
Josh Heupel's staff. Steve Wiltfong, 247Sports' director of recruiting, and 247Sports Midwest recruiting analyst Allen Trieu also made Crystal Ball predictions for Tennessee to land Jackson.
Tennessee's frequent contact with the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Jackson seems to have made an impression on him, and he likes what he has heard from the Vols about his opportunity to compete for early playing time in their fast-paced offense.
Earlier this month, Jackson scheduled an official visit to Tennessee the weekend of June 11. He has yet to schedule any additional official visits, although he has said that he's likely to take official visits to Texas A&M, Arizona State and UCLA. Florida State also has been mentioned as a contender for one of his official visits.
But no one has been in better shape with Jackson than the Vols. He has continued to hear plenty from Heupel, quarterbacks coach
Joey Halzle and offensive coordinator
Alex Golesh, among others, and Tennessee's staff has made it clear to him that it envisions him being a good fit for Heupel's offense.
