He was hit in the head by a batted ball twice in 2007.. I think the 2nd one messed him up pretty good.. It def effected his mound presence...

I didn't take the time to read through the entire thread, but I do know this kid and his dad. Not sure how much it adds to what else you guys know already but here goes. . . .

First, the player. He is actually a very talented athlete. I have concerns that he might have thrown out his arm. The area he is from had major coaching problems with baseball coaches killing arms. I played for a coach in the area and saw it happen multiple times.

Second, behavioral problems. He definitely has some major maturity issues. Most of them come from his dad. I played football and wrestled underneath his father. Good guy with good intentions but he really doesn't have a clue on how to really guide anyone including himself.

Third, loyalty to UT. When I first read about his decision to go to UT it seemed like it had to do with nothing more than the lack of a good QB at UT. However, after reviewing multiple wrestling and football videos from highschool I came across some very interesting footage. His dad would consistently wear Volunteer clothing during matches, games, practices, etc. I'm not sure where it came from but I believe this kid really wants to be a Vol.

Its good to have this guy. Walk on so we are. Of losing a scholly. Adds depth to our paper thin depth chart at QB. His daddy coaches a coveted WR recruit. Win win win

hey matt, could this guy possibly move to wr or another posititon?

I imagine he could change his mind, but CLK believes he has a good chance to be a productive college quarterback after he works with him for a year... he really likes his potential

Guy has the height and size that is proto type for Lanes type of QB. Hope he didn't blow out his arm ((I doubtthat he did), but he on iously has a significant amount of athletic potential. Having played professionally means the guy has talent and discipline. Throw in machurity in the equation too

Why do you doubt he blew out his arm? If people in that area have a history of it, and adding into account that he lost something like ten miles per hour on his fastball in one year, I'd say its pretty likely.

And having played professional baseball means he has talent in baseball. Not football. Theres probably a reason why he was only a 2* recruit and signed on to UNC before they were getting any good. And discipline? I doubt that too because all of the scouting reports on him for baseball said he had issues in the weight room and couldn't hold his weight down. Plus, someone who actually knows him just said that he had maturity isues.

It really sounds like he's just there for the connection to Ambles and to be our scout team QB.

bburger,

Would not doubt our explanation, but in the end it does not hurt to have an extra body on board as a scout. Don't think anyone thinks this guy is gong to be our All world QB. The ambles connection should be helpful. Ambles is a questionable recruit in many ways. Didn't USC have some issues with his off the field activities?

USC can afford to be picky though, especially with recruits on the east coast. No one else has pulled the offers that I know of.

USC is in an enviable position. We have taken a spray and pray approach t recruiting offering to a ton of kids. It is a recruiting strategy for a rebuilding program I'm sure that Ed O and Lane are familiar with back at USC

What is the latest? Is he still with the team. Haven't heard anything about him or if he is even being given the chance!
