I wonder how Casey Clausen would have done with Cut as a QB coach

Hey now Casey would have won the Heisman in 2001 with Cut! :cross:

Ainge starts, even if you believe it may be the worse case scenario, do you want to ruin Crompton also by starting him?

Crompton will suffer through growing pains like any other young quarterback.

Ainge will win the Heisman in 2007!

Ala Carson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After seeing what the right system and good coaching did for Brady Quinn, I'll believe just about anything.

To win the Heisman at running back you have to extraordinary.

To win the Heisman at quarterback you have to be sexy vs media darlings, I.E. Notre Dame, Flordia, USC and such.

I do not think Ainge will win the Heisman in 07, but it sure is fun to see people's reactions to a simple statement.

I'll have to disagree with that.  We know what he can do with half-assed coaching.

The problem with this arguement is, R. Clausen threw to the same receivers as Ainge and had the same coaches as Ainge. R. Clausen was completing around 57% of his passes while Ainge was completing around 45%. You cant blame coaching for that.

Ainge simply isnt a very accurate passer anymore. I'm not sure expecting Cutcliffe to correct that is a reasonable expectation. I'm sure Cutcliffe can make him a better QB, but IMO Ainge isnt going to be a very accurate passer. He had a whole year this year to correct his overthrows and he still ended the season with dismal stats.

I'd like to see what Crompton can do, before we spend another year trying to develop Ainge.

PASSING GP Effic Att-Cmp-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Rick Clausen 9 119.06 209-120-6 57.4 1441 6 53 160.1
Erik Ainge 8 89.94 145-66-7 45.5 737 5 50 92.1

One could also argue that Clausen was a 5th year senior and had other coaches at LSU and not just Sanders, while Ainge was a true sophmore who was worse than he was a year ago with only one coach.

The proof is in the pudding. We'll see next season.

you know, ainge might be the man if he can get his head right, and crompton, might also be the man...

and if we get mitch mustain, then he might be the man...

we just need cutcliff to take care of them like we know he will

Agreed. Randy Sanders couldn't run a successful offense if he had the Colts' players.

Perhaps Sanders could go back to school so to speak and replace Mazlahn at that HS in Arkansas. Maybe some of that skill and understanding down there would rub off of him.
