'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

I know this list is hypothetical, but the amount of hate people are putting on Haynes King is ridiculous.

In 2 less games than Nico (really 3-4 less games as the back up took the primary snaps vs Miami and NCST) Haynes had a 72% completion percentage, 2114 passing yds, 14/2 TD to Int ratio, 587 Yds rushing and 11 Rushing Tds.

If you are keeping score at home, that is a better YPA than Nico, double the amount of rushing yards per game, significantly better turnover ratio, and a completion percentage that Nico could only dream about. And that is without considering that GT's offense isn't nearly as dynamic as ours and has lesser talent.

In 2023, when King was fully healthy, he had over 3500 total yards and 35 Total TDs. You can count how many TN Qbs have done that in history using exactly 3 fingers. If you watched him play any of 2024 or 2023 and came away with the conclusion that he wasn't impressive, I highly question your ability to judge anything football related.

Haynes has grown up. I dont think he'll ever be a 300 yard average guy. But he is a gamer. Def a gritty player and someone you want to rally around.

I agree. I'd love to have him. Dude would lay it on the line and he's been through the ringer. Perfect stopgap who could easily overachieve.

Lol and who do you scout for? Which staff?

I’ll give you this - he’s great to go on an unexpected heater vs a top tier team once per season.

Other than that, meh. Tough kid tho.

If we had a "meh" QB with a 72% completion % and a season with 35 Total TDs under his belt, perhaps we could have put up a better fight against OSU.

Hell, we probably would have been in the SECCG against Texas, because Haynes would have beat Arky.

I dont understand the love for King. He's not a great passer. He reminds me of Eric Crouch.
I don't think his arm is fantastic, but the requirements to be an elite producer in college are different from what makes up a great NFL quarterback. My analytics had him down as a top 20 producer last year, and projected top 10 for 2025. He adds a ton of value with his legs (which the stats show me tend to usually be underrated), and his ability to make something out of nothing is HH-esque.

He literally posted numbers. You're the one posting opinions not based in number. So let us ask you...

True. I was looking at him straight from the arm talent alone. I welcome anyone into the program that is going to help win.

Yup. Jalen Hurts was pretty mediocre at passing before he went to OU. But he still lead Bama top 2 back to back Natty appearances and was very efficient when he did throw the ball. But his legs are what made (and still make) him so dangerous.

King is a lot closer to Riley Leonard than he is Eric Crouch.

Exactly! None of us are scouts. My whole point considering he said he’d question our judgement of football related things.

But I encourage you to go look at the numbers for both 2023 and 2024 and see who he put numbers up against.

For example he threw 5 of his TD passes vs VMI and Ga St in 2024.

In 2023, he threw 8 of his TDs vs BGSU (a game they lost) and SC St. He had good games vs Ole Miss, UNC, Louisville and everything else was meh.

Vs Clemson: 13-31, 129 yards, 2 TD / 4 INT
Vs UGa: 11-20, 158 yards, 0 TD / 0 INT
Vs UCF: 7-13, 87 yards, 1 TD / 1 INT
Vs BC: 14-32, 204 yards, 1 TD / 3 INT
Vs Miami: 12-25, 151 yards, 1 TD / 2 INT

Is that enough numbers to support my opinion of him not being a good passer? (Or hasn’t proven to be as of yet)
