Question about our future QB status,,,,,,,,,,,,

I was hoping CBJ would have pulled Worley in the OU game. Not because he was not producing, but to keep him from getting a season ending injury. The last 2 to 3 minutes would not have hurt our team.

Alabama is facing the consequences of not playing their backup QB's enough. Simms is average at best and then they are relying on a FSU transfer who looks even worse. I agree with trying to find sometime for a backup, but for us it will be hard to get ahead enough to bring in QB2/QB3.

???
Blake Sims 75% completion, 13.5 per completion, 4 TDs, 1 int, 177.29 rating (3rd in conference)

Worley 58%, 10.3 per completion, 6 TDs, 3 int, 120.30 rating (12th in conference)

I'm guessing Sims will end up in the upper 60s percentage wise and over 12 per completion; Worley will end up at about 55% with nearly 11 per completion. Worley will also throw more ints than Sims.

Wonder how those stats would be different if the QBs had played for each other's teams?

We might see some back ups in the Chattanooga game, but I have a feeling it will be closer than we expect

Best scenario is that Peterman gets any backup duties this year and Dobbs will redshirt. That give us Peterman for 2 more years and Dobbs for 3 with any 2015 QB's getting 2015/2016 to learn and go through S&C program before having to start. This is what stable programs do.

If Peterman or Dobbs wins qb job next year we will not be competing for the east. If they were championship caliber they would have already won the job! IMO

Have you seen Worley play? You're upset that a redshirt Soph and a true Soph can't beat out one of the best qbs in the sec?

I think he means should have had our QBs been healthy. We should have been able to redshirt him.

Didn't see that qualifier in his post...it's safe to say redshirting BOTH freshmen was the game plan last year...didn't work out. If Worley skins through this season, we haven't lost anything with Dobbs redshirting...so no harm no foul...he'll be a sophomore next season.

I'm not upset at all. Most of your better Qbs are starters within their first couple of years. Worleys is playing better but he's a senior. Does anyone feel like he compares with any of Tennesses SEC championship Qbs?

I imagine that if we a blowing a team out, or if we are getting blown out badly enough (hopefully the latter scenario will not happen), the coaches will bring in Peterman. They played Peterman in the Utah State game. I suspect that the coaches may redshirt Dobbs this year if it turns out he is not needed. Dobbs of course already has some significant experience, and my personal opinion is that I think he could come in and do well as a Redshirt Sophomore next year. We also have some recruits coming in next year that may vie for the position as freshman including Quentin Dormady and Jauan Jennings.

I don't think that the coaches will bring in a quarterback unless a game gets out of hand, and the reality is that of the games we have remaining there are only two games that I could see us blowing out the team so badly that we can resort to bringing in our second team QB. Those games are the Chattanooga and Vanderbilt games. I obviously think we'll beat Kentucky as well, but I doubt we'll beat them so soundly that we'll be able to pull our starters. After watching the OU game, I doubt that there are going to be any games that we are completely out of early enough to allow Peterman to get much experience either. This is going to be a fun year with a lot of close, competitive games IMHO.

This. Very well said.

If he doesn't compare to an SEC champion, he's not good? He's one of the best in the SEC this season.

Worley is doing great. My question is would there come a point this year where we play a back up qb a lot preparing for next years team?

That's… this, this isn't a serious question is it?

Oh, and I accidentally gave you a like trying to hit quote.

Please disregard that.

Doug Matthews mentioned on his show last week it would benefit us to get the back ups including QB some meaningful snaps in the first half of each game

We may need them later in the year (and next year) so get them some experience now -- or be like this years line and complain how we have a bunch of juniors with no experience

Peterman will be our QB for 2015 and 2016. Dormandy will get to RS and be ready to compete for the job in 2017 as a RS Sophmore.
