Question For Doctors on here.

Yesterday, I did not have a ride to work. My work has a points system and If I missed I would have been fired. Well, I decided to drive. I shouldn't have.

You've got a disability. They'd be dumb as hell to fire you.

If I felt that getting behind the wheel in that situation was the only way I could provide for my family, I would do it.

God forbid you (or someone in that situation) killed someone by getting behind the wheel (with that type of health issue). Hard to provide for your family from a jail cell.

If I felt that getting behind the wheel in that situation was the only way I could provide for my family, I would do it.

So you would risk the long term stability of your family for a couple of paychecks? That's ridiculous. Protect your assets

I'll admit I'm judging. He got behind the wheel knowing there's a possibility he may not be conscious for the entire drive. It's not like texting it's like bad drunk driving. Sugar coat it all you want but that is the reality

I hope he gets the help he really needs. I also hope he thinks about those depending on him and the innocent people he puts in danger by getting behind the wheel

Statistically, it's actually worse than drunk driving, with episodes occurring as frequently as RT describes. Aside from the legal trouble, killing someone due to your own conscious decision to do something stupid would be tough to get over.

My advice, RT: the next time you think about getting behind the wheel, imagine facing a mother with two dead children. That should make your choice a little easier.

I'm very thankful you are not injured badly, and I'll pray you find relief for your medical issue.

I've been cleared to work & drive by my doctor.

The state of Tennessee are the ones who decided to take my license's.

So, My decision wasn't that hard to make.

With me being cleared to work if I had missed I would have been fired.

Also, The other guy who is dignosised with Syncope can probably back me on this. When I start to go I know. It's not like you just pass out.

Sure, I shouldn't have got behind the wheel & I probably never will again. But don't curse at me and tell me I'm ****ing dumb. I was a mile away from work.

The reason you're taking these as insults is you're still attempting to justify your actions. You "pulled to the side" yet your truck is smashed to pieces. It also sounds like your license is revoked for some reason yet you just mention that like it's not really an issue.

Email the crash pics to your doctor and see if he still approves of your continued driving.

I'm not insulated by anyone but you.

C'mon man, quit trying to justify driving, you can walk a mile in 13 minutes, jog it in less.

But what's done is done, nobody got hurt. Lesson learned.

That's heartwarming but I have not insulted you at all. I've simply said your actions were stupid and similar to those of a drunk driver. A doctor actually said the same thing in this thread (actually he said they were statistically worse)

Losing a job would hurt. Losing the ability to ever hold a job again would hurt worse

Here's my predicament with that.

What job would hire a guy who passes out?

I just left a meeting with my Job and I have to see their doctor for a physical test to see if I'm fit to work.

Stating a persons action are stupid is in fact insulting them.

You need to figure out what is happening before that can be answered.

One mile? Lol, why couldn't you walk or even bike that? That's a serious wreck for a mile drive, and you could have only been driving for a few minutes. That's scary stuff.

Everyone wants the best for you, but driving was indeed stupid. Doctor permission or not. Too many stories about people killing innocents because bad judgement. What you do in your life doesn't matter once you're in a car. You could be the best person in the world, but it doesn't clear you to be an idiot behind the wheel. You have a medical condition. Use your own judgement and common sense.

Hope you get better man.

Now, things are starting to sound fishy. There's no way you should be cleared to drive, operate dangerous machinery, swim, etc. Also, from the look of the truck, you must have passed out pretty quickly. You cannot be terminated for illness/disability, and if you are, you have legal grounds for seeking compensation.

In my mind, driving in your shape is actually perhaps more reprehensible than drunk driving, because you at least can't claim impaired judgment as your defense. You willingly got behind the wheel knowing there was a reasonable chance you would lose consciousness. Not smart.

I got all the paperwork if you want to see them, Just post a email.

They told me today that once I recover from the injuries that I couldn't return to work until I see the company doctor for a physical or fit test. I already saw him once.

I've also been told that the State of Tennessee has a law where you can be terminated without a cause or something of that matter.

I can't you believe you'd try to go to work. As a die hard liberal/socialist, few things piss me off more than people who work!

Wtf is wrong with you!

RT, if you just totalled your truck and your doctor cleared you to DRIVE and work you should seriously reconsider the doctor you are seeing. That seems completely insane and reckless to me from the standpoint of an MD. It's got to be borderline malpractice if not malpractice period. You've literally gotten no cause and no treatment plan for your condition. Have they even suggested something called a "Holter monitor" or "event monitor" for you to wear at home/work? They're completely noninvasive tests. You haven't mentioned it in this thread but your doctor probably should have referred you to a cardiologist by now, has that even been mentioned?
