UT wasn't. UF was. You won the East 7 times from 92 to 00 and the SEC 5 times in those nine years.
UT was the best competition you had but losing to someone only 22% of the time hardly makes that the "team to beat".
We don't agree on what Jones inherits. I am not claiming he inherits a team that should compete for the East unless he's a wizard of some sort. But he inherits more talent than 6 of his 12 opponents and in the same range as at least two and probably 3 of the other six. I think UF, UGA, and Bama have a clear advantage in pure talent.
We've discussed the particulars before... I'm just not buying that this roster is worse than the one Dooley won 6 games with in '10. The schedule is no worse and maybe a tad lighter. (Jones is very unlikely to face both NC contenders).
So if Dooley who absolutely failed as a coach can get six wins... I do not think 7 is too much to ask for Jones to prove himself.
