Will there be equal racism shown at the voting booths.

Before you jump to conclusions of me , I have no problems with Obama because of his color , I just know there will be people both black and white voting because of skin color . Will it be equal . This is a touchy subject I know , but i'm curious as to how most feel . Also this isn't about what you would do but what the different races that are racist would do .

Not sure if it will be equal. I would normally say the people dumb enough to vote solely on race would be too lazy or stupid to even make it to the polls on election day, but Memphis politics sort of disprove that theory.

Let me put it this way. I am of Scottish desent. If there had never been a Scottish-American President I would consider voting for McCain, but since we had President McKinley, that is not a factor, so I will vote on their political agenda. But if I were an African-American, since there has never been one as President, I would be more inclined to vote color. Call it racism or what you think, the fact is that I have no problem with blacks voting 95% for Obama. I do have a problem with conservative Christians who would otherwise oppose abortions voting for Obama just because of his color.

The question wasn't and I question , it was would there be equal racism from different races . It's one simple question .

To be honest, I just hope they cancel each other out because it's stupid to vote that way (no matter if you are for or against).

Except for the fact that there is no reason that abortion should even be a national political issue.

I hope your right . To vote for or against someone because of the color of their skin is imo stupid , but many will and I was wondering if there were any way to tell if it was close or really one sided either way.

I would imagine that 48,000,000 souls would argue that point with you.

However, it should be left to the states to decide. Unfortunately, Roe v. Wade put it on the Federal level.

It depends on your perspective........values vs. pocketbook. For me, though economically I would likely fare better with a Democrat in the Whitehouse, I,personally, am against abortion, same sex marriages, euthanasia etc. issues that the leftists favor. These are decisions that each person has to decide before voting.

I guess, but I am not a big fan of legislating morality, especially since morality is, to a large extent, relative.

Dude, there you go again, not understanding state vs. federal power. The guy that you're quoting agrees with you -- that it should be for the states to decide based on their own needs.

Morality is legislated on a regular basis. Abortion is a thorny issue but it is certainly a legitimate issue for political debate and legislative debate.

I believe those that have been on the board for a while probably know where the others are coming from and what their beliefs are on the issues, certainly better than you do anyway. Why don't you do us all a favor and just stop posting if every other post will be condescending to the other side of the debate. You are a tool!

Its not going to be equal. Some people on both sides are ignorant. You have the dumb rednecks that are not going to vote for Obama just because he is black. I am around several middle aged or eldly white people often....and I hear comments like this. You are also going to have some african americans and other minorites voting for Obama for no other reason other than he is a minority. A very touchy subject, but when you go to the mall and see a urban clothing store filled with Obama "Yes we can" shirts decorated in gold, you cannot help but to notice. According to the census bureau website, in 2004 over 43% of African Americans did not vote. This is a bit higher than the white population (33% of whites did not vote). This has always been the case but IMO I think this year may be the first year for these to flip

As an aside on the subject of race and politics, I did notice that Drudge has a story about Obama going door to door for votes. The link features a photo on Drudge of Obama kissing ... a white woman. Seems to me that there is a subtle suggestion here and Drudge playing on it.

Reminds me of Blazing Saddles where the black sheriff (actor who's name I cannot recall) and Gene Wilder are inciting the Klan and when he takes off his hood, he asks "Where the white women at?"

If we go by your example you are a racist because you cannot remember Cleavon Little?

A very good answer for a very simple question !!:good!:

I just wish some of the other hijackers would answer the one simple question instead of arguing the same points on different threads . jmo

you probably could have gotten by without the big explanation. Most know "Where the white women at" and the "Up yours...."

That is a follow-up to a totally different thread, KB, about the Second Amendment, that Truevol and I were discussing earlier. Truevol may know a lot about politics, military affairs, etc., but when I made one point about the Constitution that he couldn't respond to (which was about state vs. federal power), he ran away to this thread. So that's what that response was.

Besides, I thought this was the politics area -- what's the point of just hearing other viewpoints that reinforce your own, when you can listen to other viewpoints that you disagree with? You all should welcome the opportunity to sharpen your debating skills, not just bully people unlike yourselves (or run away like Truevol when the person you're arguing against makes a good point).

??

Who doesn't welcome debate and KB is one of the few reasonable posters.

Stick around a while before you make unfounded blanket statements.

Point taken, I realize I'm a newcomer. Nonetheless, Truevol was absolutely hammering me all day long yesterday for several hours, and the comment that KB responded to was the last shot in like a 100-shot war. So I was trying to explain the context, I certainly prefer civil discourse to personal attacks.

You'd think you could at least get his name right, Fact Man.
