Rae Burrell Update from Kellie

Tennessee can say nothing about Rae’s medical condition without her consent! I’m not sure why you feel entitled to know. It’s NONE of your business!

It's none of the fanbase's business? May want to re-examine that kind of attitude....considering the 4500 in attendance at the last home game. And all the ticket "give-aways".

Injuries aren't a state secret. On the men's side Josiah Jordan-James thumb situation was recently disclosed and his return was estimated fairly correctly.

Or weren't, up until now. For the millionth time, we KNOW privacy prohibits info w/o her consent, we KNOW she owes us nothing, but I also know in many years of watching UT sports I've never seen a major player on court injury handled like this. If it's a medical condition such as when a men's player had cancer, most certainly understandable. But we watched Rae hurt her knee. Why can we not just know the name of what we saw occur. Then we have an idea at least when she'll be back. Again, certainly her right to choose to keep the exact nature secret, but it does naturally lead to alot of speculation.

I just want her to stop having to miss games her Sr year. Bet she's busting a gut to get back in with the way the team is playing. Might be worried about her spot! Kidding of course, but what's the lineup w Rae? Jordan x 2, Rae, Dye, Key, Puckett/Miles first off bench?

Don’t forget Darby and Green coming off the bench as well as the continued game time Wynn and to a lesser extent Striplin have been getting; we certainly have the developed depth if/when Rae returns to play with anyone

Green def could be a first off bench depending on the situation. That's what's so great, we do have quality situational subs in Green, Miles and Puckett especially. I need Darby to show me a tiny bit more consistency and I'm not yet sold on Wynn as quality help come SEC time but I would love her to prove otherwise. At this point I'm thinking of Striplin as a very promising project, and one we have the luxury of going slow on.

IMO the emergence (somewhat unexpectedly) of Miles and Puckett has been major for this run. Could be the best frosh and best depth we've had in a while.

Bueckers goes down and UConn immediately announces she has a broken tibula and will be out at least 6 weeks. Their fanbase won't have to search high and low for any tiny morsel of information.....just sayin'...

I think it’s been said time and time again, TN let’s the player decide what info is given to the public. It’s Rae’s choice. Let’s respect it.

Marta went down and Kellie said it, maybe she doesn't feel that way about Rae. I don't see a big deal about it. All I care is win win win

Just can’t understand the reasoning for the secrecy. We know exactly what Paige Bueker’s injury is and how long she will be out but we are left to speculate about Rae’s. It’s odd that she would want to keep that private
Odd as in different from how we've ever seen an injury handled before, especially one we saw happen. LOL and if someone was not aware of Bueker's injury, they talked about it with accompanying pic and graphic a couple of times on ESPN during the men's game.

It isn’t any of the fanbase’s business! It’s a personal medical issue, and if the player wants nothing released then the University can say nothing! It has nothing to do with attitude, dimwit; it’s the LAW!!

Three responses

Betting on games I have noticed several of our boarders regularly report the “line” . Much more important to football board members. Insiders should be entitled to now before the Stanford game.

Just plain “I AM ENTTLED” because I am who I am. And BTW I can provide other examples of my expectations to know personal information on others.

And a relevant example where the fanbase really needed player’s medical information was in a previous final four. The LV point guard went down with a severe sprain? A broken bone? A tear? The big game was coming and all we heard (we were ENTITLED to know MORE) was she was with the medical staff all night. It was determined that the Coach, the medical staff and the player would decide if she could play. (NOTE: the fanbase was not consulted). The outcome was positive, she played well the team won.

And that PG, is now our Coach. I am confident she and the medical staff and the player are professionally handling the injury to ensure the recovery is successful.

Some schools, coaches and players carry the HIPPA/privacy thing to an absurd extreme. In most cases there is a logical
reason to keep a /conventional/ sports injury secret. If it's something other than a conventional injury--some mental issue or an addition
issue or somesuch, then, yes, it's understandable for the player/coach/institution to keep the matter private. But for ankle, knee, shoulder, etc.
injuries of a type that we hear about every day from teams and players in all sports all over the world, I'm not sure why some want to be secretive
about it.

striplin already sets good picks for three shooters and her defence looks good . and when she gets a rebound close she does not pull down for smaler players to get jump ball she kepts high and shoots quack with a nice looking shot. more she players it harder to kept her on the bench.

marta foot hurt her last year all could see and you can not hide that boot on her foot. and besides all of the wnba teams will know when rae goes pro.

Next week we might get a timeline?

Something is fishy… why wouldn’t Kelly know what‘s going on ?

from the article:

"We met this week, we're still trying to figure out kind of what's next for her," Harper said. "She's got another appointment this week. So I'm hopeful that maybe next week we'll have a little bit clearer picture on where we want to go, where she wants to go with this and what we can do. I know I'm being vague, but unfortunately I literally I don't have the info. This has been an unusual one."
