Probably the boyfriend was fighting with his mom. It got out of hand and Bennett didn't want to see his mom treated that way. Got in the middle of it and the boyfriend lost control. Realized what he'd done and took the easy way out. Would be my guess.

Im only speculating but, I believe, it said that the shooter was Rajaans sisters ex so I am assuming it had something to do with their previous relationship.

Man, that is a horrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to Rajaan and his family right now. Its so sad when someone has worked so hard and just has their life taken from them like that.

This is awful! Work your whole life, get so ever close to making your life better, and for it all to end like this. May God bless him, his family, and friends! From what I hear he was a true class act and fine young man. He won't graduate like he was supposed to, he won't play in the SEC like he was supposed to, but he definetly scored a TD on this VOL fans heart! RIP Rajaan!

This is so much bigger than football. From that article, it reads as if he was the man of the house. He had such a bright future. The cruelty found on this earth is so shocking sometimes. Horribly sad.

the article says the 39 yr old male who did the shooting was the ex boyfriend of the mother, so the theory doesnt seem unreasonable

Wow. I haven't felt that kind of kick in the gut feeling over someone I didn't know personally since Earnhardt died.

Stories like this are why supposedly antiquated concepts like loyalty, character, devotion, self-sacrifice, etc ARE so important. We NEED those ideals to make a come back at every level and every corner of our social mores.

Sad that this kid who seemed ready to overcome his background becomes another statistical victim. One of the most dangerous places in America for a child is in the home with their mother and a live-in who is not the child's father.

This is personally tragic but unfortunately way too common.
