Rajaan Bennett killed in a murder suicide

What you said was the equivalent of hearing about the passing of a Vol recruit and one of us saying, wow that sucks, what are we going to do at x position next year now. Football is just a game, and should be a complete afterthought when life and death are considered. I'm sure Rajaan's family is more in need of our prayers than the Vandy football program.

You nitpicking over someones words and arguing when someone died is far more petty.

Back to the tragedy at hand...

RIP Rajaan Bennett. Sounds like you deserved much better. :cray:

Wow, I just hate to see a young man that was doing everything right die.
This is truly a crazy world.

It's a legitimate tragedy. One day he is getting a free ride to play football in the best conference in the nation which comes with one of the best educations available in the world, and the next day this. Mojo and prayers to his family and friends.

I am surprised I didn't hear the sirens. I live across C.H James Parkway from his house. Horrible news. I had always heard he was a good kid.

Sad news. You know how proud his family was of him - at least he was able to show them that he was on his way in life.

By all accounts, Rajaan was a wonderful young man who would've enjoyed great success in life, not just in football. RIP, Rajaan.

Rajaan’s self-discipline and organization are skills rarely seen in high school students. “He uses a bulletin board to keep track of his activities and put them in priority order. He takes all of his responsibilities very seriously. He has a lot of inner desire to make something of himself,” adds Hockman. Furthermore, Rajaan has a lot of quiet strength about him. “He does not panic and he is very intuitive and studious,” observes his coach.

...The eldest of three children, Bennett did not start playing football until the eighth grade in McEachern’s junior football program. Through the sport, the young athlete appeared to have found a much-needed outlet, as the accomplishments have not come easy. Alongside the joy of his success is a trace of sadness.

At the age of nine, Rajaan moved with his family to Atlanta from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was born. His father, Charles, had family in the area and both Charles and Narjaketha felt the move would provide a fresh start and a better overall environment for their young children. However, just barely a year after getting settled in their new home, tragedy struck. Charles was killed in an automobile accident, leaving nine-year-old Rajaan as the new man of the household.
