He has bounced around a bit this year. Given the New York Times expose on prep schools, I'm certain his transcript will be scrutinized. However, my guess is Pearl has some level of confidence reagrding Smith's chances of qualifying. Otherwise, I believe he would be recruiting the JC ranks harder.(HotlantaVol @ Mar 21 said:While we're putting the cart before the horse, does anyone have any new news on his eligibility status? I think I remember reading something last year about that being a big question mark...

With Ramar, there are some potential qualification issues, plus the fact he's moved around so much leaves a bad impression on "commitment." He's be described as selfish with the ball as well. He doesn't have a good outside shot and isn't aggressive enough on defense according to some scouting services. Pearl obviously will have to evaluated the kid on his "coachablility" and commitment to "team."

I've seen several sites that have reported Ramar as having a very good shot at qualifying. Second, he's the top ranked player out of michigan. He's Kings's go to guy in the clutch. I've not seen too many scouts that have said he was a "ball-hog". Last, many recruiting sites list Ramar's defensive work-ethic as one of his major strengths. Most say he has a good outside shot, but he's not always consistent. With his heavy build on a 6'2" frame, I think Ramar Smith is the missing link for one of the best, if not THE best, recruiting class Tennessee Mens basketball has ever seen!!!!
