Vanderbilt Commodores received their first commitment of the 2010 recruiting period on Monday when Marathon (Fla.) defensive end Thomas Ryan pledged to the school.

Zook already has one commitment, from defensive back Corey Cooper of Maywood (Ill.) Proviso East, but there have been rumors that Notre Dame could steal him away. Actually, though, the Illinois coaching staff is more concerned about Tennessee. Vols super recruiter Ed Orgeron is recruiting the Chicago area for Tennessee, and he is expected to make a strong run at Cooper and Prater.

Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West wide receiver Kyle Prater is a hot commodity – ranked No. 18 overall in the country and the No. 3 player at his position. Prater already has more than 20 scholarship offers and likely will have nearly 40 by the end of the May evaluation period. He's expected to narrow his list of schools to around 10 by June.

CLK was interview on the radio earlier and mentioned that this morning he had been on the phone with a top tier recruit and talked him into visiting this weekend. He also went on to say that he thinks a commit will come this weekend.

I listened to the interview, DP asked if he was going to close the kid this weekend and Kiffin said I think we are or we've got a good shot.

yeah i was listening to that too. It would be great if someone knew who he was referring to and could tell us. BTW, i also think this is a great thread. keep it up rex
