^^^^i agree 1000% but i really believe cutler will be the best quarterback in this years draft. hes already proven he can play with virtually nothing around him.

dont have a problem with texas winning but not convinced they were the better team imo
SO by that logic, the New England Pats will win the Super Bowl because "recent history" shows them as the "better team"...

That's :bs: !!!

The better team did win last night, the one that handled the pressure when it mattered, had the better leadership (i.e. didn't call run up the middle on 4th and 2 on the 45 with your best player on the sidelines!!!), and put together all the pieces of the puzzle...great game!!!

And by the way, all you Vince Young maniacs out there...one person does not the team make.

Congrats 'horns!!!

We'll see ya in the NC game next year...
and vandy is REALLY a better team than ut

NOT a joke - look at the history of QB's in the NFL - the great ones are never runners - always pocket passers -

Psst . . . . . . . Steve Young, Roger Staubach, John Elway, Fran Tarkenton etc.

I dont even see how it would be possible to hate on Vince Young after how good he did last night.

OK - I will rephrase that - the soon to be great ones - besides - those guys are what I would call more of a great scrambling QB than a runner like VY - and I am not hating on Vyoung - I think he is great - just think he would made a better PRO WR than a PRO QB. That's all - I think what he did last night was fantastic.

As I said before - I COULD BE WRONG- just a personal opinion.

Vince was great but he won't do well inthe NFL unless he learns to pass better - I be he would make great WR in the NFL.

This guy makes Michael Vick look like a fool. I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Out with Ron Mexico and in with the man from north of Mexico.

It's definitely conventional wisdom, and for the most part I probably agree with you, but I think there are some situations where a guy is such a good athlete that he can't be put in a box quite so easily. Look at guys like Steve McNair and Donovan McNabb. They ran all over the place in college, but learned how to pick their spots in the pros.

very true and good point - he is an incredible athlete and will definately do well at the next level

Just saying that may nt be at QB!!

If a guy with a funky delivery like Phillip Rivers can go #2 in the draft, I'd think Young with his speed is a shoo in to be a top 5 pick.

No doubt he will be a top 5-10 pick, not sure it is a good decision to hang around though - but I always like it when they stay for another year.

For the record, USC was not competing for their third National Championship. They were competing for their second consecutive national championship. The BCS is the NCAA endorsed method for determining the "Official National Champion of NCAA Football". The Sears trophy goes to one team.
The Associated Press National Championship has been recognized by the ncaasince 1936, and is every bit as legit as the bcs.

I was happy that Texas won, and we don't have to sit around and listen to people talk about this USC team being "best ever".
I started out pulling for USC, but was actually for Texas by the end of the game. I'm glad they won too, but really don't care who says who was the best ever.

Why do people feel the need? I just don't understand it.
Cause that's what people do. Cause it makes for an interesting debate, who is better between the great teams of today vs the great teams of the past. :twocents:

wow are people really thinking young wont be that good in the nfl? every high pressure game he has played in in his career (taken away oklahoma last year) he has been great. Rose bowl last year he was a stud, all this year he was a stud, and aginst the best team in the nation, he was a stud. Young wasnt suppose to be able to throw defenders off of him aginst USC, but he did it. he made Darnell bing (proably best saftey going to the nfl draft) look like a punk out there breaking tackles and breaking ankles. Young is bare non the best college qb i have ever witnessed play the game. Like i said, throw like rivers, vison like Cunningham, runs like vick, and has the heart of Mcnair. he will be a great pro. not even Vick looked this impressive when he was in college...

If I was the Saints, I would take Cutler. He has proven he can play and win for a crappy team. Which neither Young or Leinart have yet to be able to prove.

the trojans were going for the tree peat.

but congrats to the horns, they played a great game.

the only way to tell how many titles a school really has is to go back every year and go by the polls that were legit in each year, and it changed a lot.

of course in the earlier years, more polls counted. you used to be able to win nc's with small polls.

its almost impossible to go by a site because most sites only count certain polls.

i was watching a sports college football list on espn, and it said national titles, the top were

alabama 12 :bad:
usc 11 (said this during the game too)
notre dame 11 (said this before the fiesta bowl too)
michigan 11 (this may seem strange but their 4 titles before 1905 count too.)

i dont know where they get there source but i remember watching the nd usc game LAST year it said nd had 11 titles and usc had 10 (but that was before they won last year) so that verifies their 11.

alabama... its a mystery.

and michigans 11, so many of those are split.

Well, i really didn't want TX to win, i hate TX....but i found myself really sick of hearing about USC....and i was then rooting for TX to stop USC on that 4th down play in the 4th qtr.....

what a game though.....very impressed with the speed of TX. I think you finally saw what USC would look like if they played above average teams week in and week out.....they're still really good, don't get me wrong, but there was no over drive switch for 'em last night.....

i guess if this UT can't win it, some UT should....but wrong color orange.

Go VOls.

Well that makes two of us. Two of my ex girlfriends graduated from Texas, put yourself in my shoes. :ermm: I was still pulling hard for them last night and I'm glad they won.

Want to see something really funny. Tennessee is not an undisputed champion in 1998. Ohio State topped one of the polls. Look how many champions there are for some years. This is freakin ridiculous, the NCAA needs to stop officially naming champions. PLAYOFFS! PLAYOFFS! PLAYOFFS!

Darn, I never knew that UT has 7 National Championships. Did anyone else scroll down far ebough to see that Vandy has a couple of NCs as well?

yep, can't beat that...i just have some co workers in Dallas that are so Pro-"anything to do with TX" that i didn't think i could stand to hear from them, especially when they try to give me a bunch of crap about the "real UT" or burn is better than bright etc.....but alas, USC turned out to be the evil empire, and they had to be stopped. good riddence to ML, RB, LW, DJ, SS etc....

the only time i see the 'real' count of championships is when they announce it during a game to show team history.

i would like to know a source and listing we should get the ncaa to just clear up the info and sort it out.

what i mean by that is only show the polls that count each year.

like in 02, the polls that chose sc mean nothing, but they may have in the past.

:dunno: Was it a touchdown or not? On my tv, I thought the replay showed that Young's knee was on the ground before the pitch, and why didn't USC call for a review before the PAT was kicked? I know it's over-n-done with, just thinkin' out loud. What do you think? Still glad they beat 'em.
