Random, Thoughts, X,XXIV

Had to pick little bit up from school for a Drs appointment, and may have found her a car. Gotta drop her off at swim practice, then I'm gonna go drive it. Good shape, not a bad price, she's dying to get one 🤣
Did hmans comment about the Nissan scare you from buying it ?

Mitsubishi mirage, 2018. 30,000 miles and $7,000. Drove it for a while, smoked it over, guy offered me to take it to a mechanic if I wanted, and drive it for an hour if I wanted to. Compared to other stuff, we looked at a 2016 Corolla with almost 200k for $9,000. Then a Hyundai with 178k for 9,000. God willing, if nothing happens, we're going to get it tomorrow afternoon. Little bit likes it, and she's paying most of it. Worst thing I've found on reviews is lack of power, but not an issue. Compared to everything else I've seen, gonna be hard to beat.

I had a Mirage. It's a fine car for a high school student. Other than an alternator, it did not need any repairs until 100,000 miles. After 100,000 miles, it began to show its age pretty quickly.

It's a starter car, not a forever car. And it has a small backseat to put dad's mind at ease. ;)

Do tell her to be easy on the AC knobs and dials. Those were super cheaply made and would break if you turned too fast.

That's what we're hoping, driving local and get several good years out of it.

As long as she isn't doing a lot of driving merging onto busy expressways, this car should work fine.
You beat me to it! Underpowered is exactly what you want for a new HS driver, unless she has to do driving that requires stomping on the gas, like merging.

I had always threatened to get my kids an orange 70's era Volvo dorkmobile with an AM radio and no AC (this was in the late 90's and early ought's.) They were pretty frightened.

(can't find a pic with quite enough rust on it)

Just got back from my Costco hearing test and hearing aid fitting! Woot!

They’re ordering them, so a 2-week wait. I didn’t want to hand back the trials. The technology is pretty amazing.

Phillips Hearlink 9040
HBPW on her way back from COSTCO now. She said she has never seen that many asshats in one place, at one time. Lol

It’s like Walmart, but a different level of weirdness!

Seriously, for Those of Us of a Certain Age, it’s absolutely worth the membership fee, if only for this and for one year (well, through your warranty period.) $1500 contrasted to the more common $3000-$4000 elsewhere.

In 2021, the world had 7.1 billion mobile phone users, roughly 90% of the global population. The mobile phone is now one of humanity’s most ubiquitous pieces of technology, and these sleek modern devices are a far cry from their hefty, brick-like predecessors.

But what are the most sold mobile phones of all time?
