There were plenty of parallel themes. And, honestly, it was brilliant. You can make a case that the same girl in Two Out of Three Ain't Bad showed up again in Objects In The Rear View Mirror (and others). And that the girl in Paradise By The Dashboard Light showed up in It's All Coming Back to Me Now. Steinman was the Pixar Universe way before Pixar even thought about doing it. It really is amazing.
