One illness/hospital stay can wipe you out.

Truth. I was hoping to work about 10 more years. Dunno. Might just say the heck with it. And honestly, at this stage of life, I would be working for health insurance instead of the paycheck.

Truth. I was hoping to work about 10 more years. Dunno. Might just say the heck with it. And honestly, at this stage of life, I would be working for health insurance instead of the paycheck.

I was self employed from the age of 33, and Was advised that Farm B was a good company. Told that they did not cancel policies because of poor health. That was true, but wife had some health issues in her 50s, and they started raising the premiums significantly. They also did not cover one of my drugs. At 59 I went back to work to get the health insurance. Insurance + drugs would save us almost $30k/yr. That was 2010.
I enjoyed the work, and was able to retire at 63 and keep the insurance until I qualified for Medicare.
So I was working for the insurance.
