The name Jesus used in the English New Testament comes from the Latin form of the Greek name Ἰησοῦς (Iēsous), a rendition of the Hebrew Yeshua (ישוע‎), related to the name Joshua.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English. Just saying. Yeshua spoke again to them: “When you have lifted up The Son of Man, then you shall know that I AM THE LIVING GOD, and I do nothing for my own pleasure, but just as my Father has taught me, so I am speaking. When He says "I am He" He is talking about God. His Father.

The verse you quoted had information added to it that doesn’t appear in the original.


Everyone here knows (except maybe you) that I’m a Messianic Jew. I’m clear on who Yeshua Messiah is. My question was asked because I’m not sure you do considering you quoted a faulty verse.

Sarcastically, I once advocated for each Congress to undergo an annual summer ritual in which members are to march down Pennsylvania Ave in their skivvies while school-aged children are encouraged to pelt them with shaved ice. In addition to their undies, members will be allowed only goggles, ear protection, and sandals.
