Random, Thoughts, X,XXIV

Both sides of my family were dirt poor, too. But they worked hard. I only knew one grandparent. I have my granny's old meal chest we used to keep corn meal and flour in when she lived with us in the old house...I need to replace the hinges on that.
My dad's side had some money but my mom's side were farmers and truck drivers. West Tennessee poor. Give you the shirt off their backs.

I remember granny talking about the Great Depression and how they never knew anything much was happening any different for them during that time. She was born in 1898 and used to remind me that she was a "McKinley baby" and I was an "LBJ baby" and mom and dad were "Roosevelt babies." Her favorite Presidents were Wilson and Truman. I remember when she found out Truman died, she cried. I was young, but I'll never forget that.
