I have never been a Sanders fan, but this season I have come to a few conclusions about him that puts him in a better light (for me at least).

1. He's loyal - No matter how much criticism the man takes or how many are calling for his job, he still shows up and does his job.

2. He CAN make things exciting when necessary. The Vols didn't come from behind at LSU on willpower alone.

3. He benefits the team in more ways than just playcalling. I have never heard any quarterback speak negatively of his training, but I HAVE heard them praise him. Many times.

I used to criticize CRS too. Very vocally. But I think since he is the one on the sidelines day in and day out at practice, HE knows which plays the players execute with the most success and can be trusted to call the ones they have the greatest chance of executing well.

I'm sure Sixy will come and shoot about a million holes in this post, but I say firing Randy Sanders alone will not fix what ails our offense.

That's true too, but what probably looks brilliant on the practice field can probably be a bust in the actual game.

Three questions:
1. To which play are you referring?
2. Did they win?
3. Is consistently being in the top 10 not good enough for you or are you of the opinion that going undefeated and winning the national title every year realistic?

If you think you saw the same play 20 times, it's probably safe to say that you don't know what you are looking at.

and this was the 2nd game in a week (and the first one was an emotional nuclear bomb which could have blown up in this teams face) The whole staff (inclunding Randy) did a good job not letting the team "overlook" Ol Miss after ssuch a dramatic win just 5days ago!

That is a great point.

In the NFL, one of the surest bets you can make is that a team that plays on Monday night will not cover the spread the next Sunday due to the shortened week. Well, our week was shortened by TWO days, so as ragged as it may have looked at times, it wasn't bad under the circumstances.

How can ANY win be considered "bad"???

"Bad" is probably the wrong word. I think you would at least be "concerned" if we beat, say, a 1AA team by a field goal. But you are probably right - there's no such thing as a "bad" win against an SEC opponent.

FIRE THE BUM

Who wants to pay 60 dollars to see an offense that was ranked 3rd in the country in preseason magazines stall all of the time and then finish 10th in the SEC.

Our offense was pathetic against UAB, Florida, one half of the LSU game, and against Mississippi.

Was that not the longest game yesterday?

Even some players have shown concearn for the way things are going. Sanders has had one year where his team scored more than 400 points in a year.

But this is America and Americans settle for lots of things. The way our congress spends our tax dollars, our sitting president, and we settle for Randy Sanders. Nice guy and loyal do not cut it.

Nah, he's changing. I don't remember one WR screen yesterday. I don't know about you all, but I'm pretty excited!

So's my dog and my meter reader.

2. He CAN make things exciting when necessary. The Vols didn't come from behind at LSU on willpower alone.

Five yard outs aren't exciting.  LSU made it really easy on us by playing very soft coverage.

3. He benefits the team in more ways than just playcalling. I have never heard any quarterback speak negatively of his training, but I HAVE heard them praise him. Many times.

No QB (especially those in competition with each other for the job) will openly criticize his OC.  Our QB's don't usually get much better while they're at UT (see Casey Clausen, C.J. Leak), and Ainge seems to have de-evolved since his Freshman year.  This also may be a reason why Jimmy Clausen doesn't want to play for us . . .

I used to criticize CRS too. Very vocally. But I think since he is the one on the sidelines day in and day out at practice, HE knows which plays the players execute with the most success and can be trusted to call the ones they have the greatest chance of executing well.

I agree, but ever OC should know his offense the best.  However, to respectfully debunk your theory, we've run the same plays and play calls for years now, but the personnel has changed.  We have enough talent to score on anybody, yet we never seem to get the most out of their talent.

I'm sure Sixy will come and shoot about a million holes in this post, but I say firing Randy Sanders alone will not fix what ails our offense.

I don't think it was a million . . . not trying to shoot holes in your post--I just think that gettting rid of Randy and bringing in some new coach/new ideas/new system WILL fix all that ails us on offense. I challenge you to find a more under-achieving offense than the one we've had for several years now, with the talent we have every season.

Everybody complains about the same stuff. Down here in Georgia they think their offense has underachieved the last 2 years and is horrible in the red zone. Sound familiar?

Then you don't have a very deep understanding of the game.

I kept looking for that play yesterday, but you're right, I don't ever remember us running it.
