Yeah. I think Vanderbilt's offer for Malzahn will fall on deaf ears now that this position is open. Sure SEC>>>ACC, but Florida recruiting hotbead + Miami's history and easier academic eligibility requirements makes it a no brainer.

As a miami fan also I hope they spend some money and bring in a name. But doubt they will. I would like to see gruden(impossible), Richt, or tubberville. The high school coach they are talking about is prob the miami northwestern coach.

You would think so. Word is Vandy will pay up to 2 mill, half of that would have me in south florida.

All I can say is I see a lot of coaching shake ups this off season and they will have an impact on the SEC and UT to some degree.

It will be interesting to see who they go after...Miami is a top job.

I started a thread on this last night after hearing from a friend who's grandfather is on the board at UM and they are all season tickets holders for UM, I just didn't think it would be today but I guess the SF loss sealed his fate to do it now. My friend swears that they are getting Gruden possibly as early as Monday. tifwiw, I'm just reporting what I'm hearing!

Miami is not as prime a job as the name suggests. They are one of the poorest "big time" programs around and have made a concerted effort to focus more on academics. As a point of reference, Greg Schiano turned the job down to stay at Rutgers a couple years ago.

Gruden could get a NFL head coaching job paying 6 million dollars this off-season. Randy Shannon was making $900,000. You see Gruden going there?

I posted this on another thread but it would seem to apply more to this one:

Miami AD Kirby Hocutt will probably go get Okla DC Brent Venables who's only 39 and is probably ready for his first HC job..They played on the same team at Kansas St in '91 & '92...Okla OC Kevin Wilson would probably be the next choice..Hocutt was at Okla from '99-'04 and Wilson was the Co-Offensive Coordinator during that time..Mark Richt will probably be in the mix since is an ex-UM QB and maybe ex-South Florida HC Jim Leavitt, who was Hocutt's LB coach at K State...The way he left S Fla would make that doubtful...JMO
