That would make no sense he wouldn't consider UT, but it would only take $3M to get him to Miami?

He also still lives in Tampa. But I think Tampa is still paying him so that's why I doubt this.

If this happens you have to wonder what kind of assistants they can afford. And if Gruden was given assurances they would start loosening academic standards.

CBS Sports is saying Miami and Gruden have mutual interests.

Rumors swirl around Jon Gruden and Miami - CBSSports.com

According to a UM source, former NFL coach Jon Gruden initiated contact with the university to express his desire for the job and that the interest in mutual. Hocutt said there's no timeline on the hire and that money will not be an issue in the selection.

Too bad... if he waits, could probably have an NFL job with the TItans.

Question though... I'm pretty sure Gruden is currently making 4.4 million a year. Why would he leave for 3 million? Commentating is stress free and you have job security. Coaching is the exactly opposite. Lots of stress and little job security. I don't get why he'd take a pay cut for that.

I don't think he can do enough at State to hurt the bigs in the West, but a better Miami is bad for Florida.
