rank the current SEC head football coaches in order from Best to Worst

I was not ranking the people based on this year, I am basing it on overall coaching ability.

Next year when Dooley wins 9 in the regular season, people can bump this thread and laugh.

When Dooley is unemployed next December, never again to get a job at a major college football program, people can bump this thread and laugh at how you thought he was a better coach than Mark Richt, who has won multiple SEC titles.

A relevant ? is where would this school be without the coach. That should impact your rankings a good bit.

1. Nick Saban
2. Steve Spurrier
3. Bobby Petrino
4. Les Miles (I believe the talent he brings in so easily gives him a built in advantage in almost every game.
5. Gene Chizik
6. Derek Dooley
7. Mark Richt

8. James Franklin
9. Dan Mullen
10. Will Muschamp (cannot believe how much he lost with that talent).
11. Houston Nutt
12. Joker Phillips

:eek:lol:

Oh, that's so impressive! A 9-4 season that won't even win the East! That is top notch coacing right there.

My rankings are based on who did the least with the most. Florida has like three top-5 classes and one # 1 recruiting class on their current roster. So Muschamp easily wins the # 12 spot on the coach' rankings. That is also why Richt is a mid-level coach in my book. If you are at the state school in Georgia, you really should be winning an SEC championship more than once a decade.

1. Les Miles
2. Nick Saban
3. Richt
4. Petrino
5. Spurrier(based on current age and status. Young Spurrier was #1)
6. Chizik(could be higher if they can get a good player for $180K)

8. Franklin
9. Muschamp
10-11 Joker or Dooley(it doesn't matter they are the same)

1) Nick Saban
2) Les Miles
3) Bobby Petrino
4) Steve Spurrier
5) Mark Richt
6) Dan Mullen
7) Gene Chizik
8) Will Muschamp
9) Hugh Freeze
10) James Franklin
11) Joker Phillips
12) Derek Dooley

Just my two cents.

Not sure how you can even rank Hugh Freeze as an SEC Coach yet...that said I am all for Dooley being number one until the next fella comes to town after you all run off the only man who wanted THIS job in the first place
