Ranked?

There are quite a few teams that are ranked playing against other ranked teams tomorrow. Combined with a huge upset over the #1 team in the country would have to at least get you in the area of breaking the top 25.

We have lost to 3 teams that have all been in the top 10 this year, with 2 of them being in the top 5. It isn't like we lost to scrub teams we should have killed. Also the Georgia game was so close I think it earned us a lot of respect in the national scene.

I don't see us breaking in to the top 25 but you just never know what's going on in the voters heads.

You guys are nuts if you think we wouldn't be ranked at 5-3 after beating the #1 team in the nation and back to back National Champs on their turf.

I'd say around #22.

Without a doubt. This is a diff team since Oregon and Florida. UT has gotten national attention since UGA, a win over Bama at Bama would indeed put them in the top 25. Look at some teams there in the 20's, also there will be some losses today. Not only would UT be ranked, but I think the President's next state of the union speech would likely be simply: "brick by brick", then he would just walk off.

Butch Jones would get a 25 year extension. I would likely die in some way as a result of the celebration, and David Pollack's head would explode on national TV. Several of Paul Finebaum's callers would commit heinous crimes. It would be beautiful chaos.

I don't think it would get us ranked, but we would be knocking on the door. A win over Mizzou or Auburn might do the trick. At this point in time, it is extremely premature to talk about rankings. We need to be satisfied with 6 or 7 wins and a bowl game.

I understand what the op was saying but a 5-3 team will not be ranked. We still will have to beat Mizzou and Auburn to crack the top 25. Just go look at the polls now and see how many 5-3 teams are ranked. If we loose to bama and bet those we still won't be ranked.

I think teams should get more credit for where they are currently than just because they have X losses.

LSU is ranked #13 with 2 losses and in the AP poll they have Wisconsin in it at #22 with 2 losses

You must be drinking a little early for the game. Look at the lowest ranked team the are 5-2. A 5-3 team WILL NOT be ranked unless there are a couple more upsets this week and we beat bama by 2tds anything less and no I would put money on that.

Wow, some ignorance in this thread. Beating two top 11 teams (including the top ranked team) in successive weeks would absolutely earn this team a ranking. How could anyone not think so?

This. No question. Win and TN would be in top25. Then beat a top 5 Mizzu the next week we would likely jump to top 15. Then beat a top 10 Aub and we'd be right near the top 10.

That would be one of the best 5 game stretches ever so we would fly up the rankings no doubt.

Lots of opportunities!

screw the ranking, if we beat Bama...that means we're one game short of a bowl, hell i don't care if it's the toliet bowl....with the way UK is playing, that's almost in the book...a bowl game will help seal the glue on this recruiting class...and then it's not so odd to have excitement going into the Bama game....i'm a big picture kinda guy tho...

on the flip side.....I'd be the most annoying and arrogant Vol on the face of the planet if we walk away from Saban with a win....so here's to game day, here's to forever hating Bama...here's to taking Alabama out of the National title talk.....and here's to being the most important thing during the fall....

The schedule counts. One of our losses is to Oregon at Oregon! We have the toughest schedule in the country.

We beat bama we will be in the Top 25

If we beat Bama? Yes, of course we'd be ranked. Still, I am not going to expect miracles. They won't quit on us regardless.

Nobody in the country would be riding such an impressive two game streak - that has to make us at least the next to jump in the top 25. I'd be shocked though if we wouldn't leapfrog in regardless.

Oregon state (number 25) will likely lose to Stanford.

South Carolina (21) could lose is Missouri.

I don't think we would be ranked (too many 1 loss teams ahead of us), but one thing is for sure....Bama would fall. That is enough for me!:)
