Not sure how it always goes back to pitching. I’m pretty happy with the staff. Although a few of the guys still need extra innings. Also, the ERA for several of the pitches got scorched from that one 22 run game.

The focus of losing needs to be directed more towards the defense and offense. How many dropped and misjudged balls have caused runs? Last Friday (Ole Miss) the 1st inning routine fly ball hits the ground and leads to 2 runs, Saturday misplayed ball in the outfield clears the bases, 2 out infield errors, and twice this season the catcher has thrown the ball away each time allowing a baserunner to score (last night with 2 outs). Heck, Saturday we lost 7-1 with 4 unearned runs. At the plate, our combined offensive output for Saturday and Sunday…1 run! The best pitching staff in the NCAA may have trouble winning with that offensive output.
IMO, if the pitching staff keeps the score under 5 ER’s than the bats and defense should be the main concern and focus.

I think the core group posted about is doing pretty well but the bottom line is the stuff is just short. Those guys aren't going to trick hitters all year imo

Some ERA's...LSU 2.99, Kentucky 5.21, Florida 2.91, Alabama 3.06, Vandy 2.67

Again, minus that 22 run game, our staff would be high 2's- low 3's

Guess we will wait and see. The Sophomore's listed especially Stallings, Neely, and Lingo will be consistent. The Freshmen group will only get stronger and more experienced with time and inning's. Again, I like the listed pitchers...just give them run support and defense and we'll be ok.

Lingo and stallings are great

Anyone know what is up with Andrew Schultz...I thought he would be a stud, then the injury. Has he just not been able to get it back or what?

I didn’t know he had been injured. I think he has a ton of potential too but needs to get more confidence, better control and more innings, to iron things out. Would love to see him come in for an inning or two every so often to be able to work through this. We need a power arm!

Another thing that is different between us and most other SEC teams is that they (Sec teams) allow the staff to get quite a few innings in pre-conference games. Check out the number of appearances with other staffs. We are crazy high on a few pitchers and crazy low innings with the remaining staff.

He literally blew his arm out on the mound his freshman year...he had been one of the most consistent guys that year, he had TJ surgery...Ithink he only pitched couple innings last year

He had TJ last year?

Pretty sure you are confused. He pitched all season long

I think you may be getting Schultz and Darling confused. Darling was pitching versus MS State, I think, and hurt his arm. It ended up being only a strain but he rarely threw again last year. The only one that I can recall that missed last season due to TJ was the Walsh kid and Aaron Soto, who ended up transferring.

Good question. I had forgotten about him. Not sure if he went ahead and graduated or what. He would have been a junior this season but isn’t on the roster.

I’d take Over in a minute.....

Might be a good Pick’em Bonus question for extra points. 😊

I thought you were supposed to pick with your head and not your heart...I'm so confused...OT...if I pick with my head right now it would have to be under...just don't see it happening right now, so, in all regards, if you pick over...you're betting on the come...:)

It really is a HUGE weekend. This is a home series that is winnable. It really is that simple. Winning it doesn’t ensure anything, but losing this one...Hole.

Yeah, really need to win this series, lose and the season will be uglier than I expected. And I didn't expect anything pretty.

Lingenfelter has the stuff to be a solid closer and maybe Schultz can get a medical redshirt season while CTV needs to get a few more pitchers in the next recruiting class.

We are moving further down the facility food chain;
.@GatorsBB announced the construction of a new ballpark for around $50 million. Will have an overall capacity of close to 10K. The arms race continues.

I'm all for facility upgrade/expansion conversations however consistently winning a few more games must come first.....Florida's park is awful and they just won a Natty, it can be done with less than desired facilities.

Not getting political however its sort of like the education debate, just throwing money at an issue isn't necessarily going to fix anything......

I agree with you but unfortunately, it is what it is.

Well, the coaches did change out one of the players in my original rant and so far, so good in terms of results. ZD was (and is) still the league leader in strikeouts and was replaced by Trammell in left and also Evan Russell at DH. Both contributed big time to our win last night. Now just move Santiago to DH and give another catcher a shot defensively. They cannot do worse than what we are seeing now. Last night was another prime example of him almost costing us the game.
