Rap Thread

If you don't like rap, then why open the thread. I personally like every kind of music except hard rock, and I am ashamed whenever people can not respect others taste. For example, just because I don't like hard rock, if there was a hard rock thread I wouldn't go in there and bash it. Show some respect guys.

You obviously weren't in my 95' Lumina when I was bumpin' Do or Die, TRU, and 36. It's not about respect, it's about seeing where rap has progressed and actually noting that it has regressed because it shows mostly only the material side now as opposed to telling the stories it used to tell back in the day. I don't think there was a day from 1993 to 2000 where I didn't listen to at least one Tupac song a day. So before you start telling me about respect you might want to ask me why I feel like that. So yes, right now the "rap game" they have right now wouldn't last one second with the rappers of the late 80's early 90's. The rap game is now crap compared to it's "glory dayz".

First off, I was in no way talking to you. You where a fan of rap at some point, therefore you have the right to say what you said. I was talking about these ignorant people who bash rap and have no basis or knowledge of the subject. Sorry to touch a nerve man, I wasn't talking about you at all.

You painted a broad stroke by saying "guys".

He knew that. I think that he was referring to the fact you said it was the best album of that era. In fact it had two different versions if I am not mistaken because the first one sucked.

first and second were the same besides the song "crossroads". the whole album was incredible.

Good album yes. But to call that the best rap album of the 90s is crazy. Tupac had 4 better albums by himself. The Chronic and Doggystyle were better. DMX "Its Dark and Hell is Hot". Juvenile 400 Degreez. Eminem Slim Shady LP.

dmx? no way. juvenile was alright but definitely not best album. the rest of them are classics. i was just joking about bone being the best, but it seriously is probably my personal favorite.

"I miss my Uncle Charles, yall" is one of those lines in a song that everyone in the car sings along to while missing the rest of the song, minus the chorus.

Oh I know. Personal opinion is cool. I loved that DMX album though. It is pretty good. His other albums were lacking.

Could have included Chronic 2001. It came out in late '99

I will admit rap has evolved since even 2000 into something I am getting sick of.

I'm a huge Lil Jon fan, when he was in his prime making beats for EVERYONE. YoungBloodz, Luda, Usher, 36 mafia, E-40, etc. I loved that era of rap, and now I can't go anywhere without hearing that dipsh*t yelling "Crank that soulja boy HUUUUHH""" Or "Ya Ya!!!"

But, I opened this thread so rap fans can talk about rap. Just like ya'll can talk about ya'lls music in ya'lls thread. What's the point of bashing our music? You like what you like and we like what we like

I will say that No Limit was probably the best label as a group as opposed to others. Give me C-Murder, Silk, Mystikal, and P in the same song and you have a winner most of the time. The songs "Eternity" and "Hot Boyz and Girlz" off of MP Da Last Don is probably my favorite songs of No Limit as a group.

Dude No Limit was that one!

I remember when I was like 12 or 13 me and my boys used to go everywhere like "I'ma No Limit Soulja! I Thought I told ya!" and "Make em say Ughhhh NaNaNaNa"

Man I remember when that song came out everybody at school was singing that. I heard it on the radio the other day, I forgot how hard that beat was. That's the rap I miss

Geto Boys is the only rap that I can tolerate, and that's only because my roommate in college got me listening to them 18 years ago. And I guess that's about the last time I did listen to them was in college.

I can listen to Kanye, Common, Talib, or Mos all day long. About the closest I can get to gangster rap is TechN9NE and a little bit of the game. What's up with all the flaming...

lol, I am so sick of people claiming stuff like "rap was so much better back in the 90's. rap sucks now. blah blah blah".

95% of the rap back then was utter GARBAGE. mainstream rap today is mostly full of suck but there are some GREAT artists out there. Lil Wayne and Souljah Boy are not representative of the quality of today's rap.

and oh yeah, if you don't list either Illmatic, Liquid Swords, Enter the 36 Chambers, or Built 4 Cuban Linx as the best rap album of the 90's, you have a screw missing.
