lol, I am so sick of people claiming stuff like "rap was so much better back in the 90's. rap sucks now. blah blah blah".

95% of the rap back then was utter GARBAGE. mainstream rap today is mostly full of suck but there are some GREAT artists out there. Lil Wayne and Souljah Boy are not representative of the quality of today's rap.

and oh yeah, if you don't list either Illmatic, Liquid Swords, Enter the 36 Chambers, or Built 4 Cuban Linx as the best rap album of the 90's, you have a screw missing.

fair enough, those were pretty good albums, i have always been more a fan of the west coast sound, but that's not to say that looking back there were many other talented artists from all over. perhaps you seem to know more about the current rap scene than i do, so what are some artists that you would reccommend that maybe not so main stream

I for one don't really get excited about buying CDs. In fact I never buy cd's thanks to youtube and other places to listen.

anyway, TI's new Paper Trail is going to be awesome. I think it'll get more sells than the carter 3

TIs albums are always insane. I don't know if it will sell more than the carter 3 though, his new song "No Matter what" is hot.

Eminem needs to come out with another one

Don't know your tastes, I personally could never get into most of the No Limit, Cash Money etc. type stuff, but I would highly recommend looking into almost anyone on that list of artists. Its gotten to the point where probably 95% of the rap I listen to now comes from someone on that label.

Yeah, Eyedea won a freestyle contest on HBO about 6-8 years ago. He's probably the more famous one out of that group (along with most of the Sixth Sense crew).

The best battle Eyedea had because of the punchlines. As soon as E-Dub spit his verse, Eyedea responded in his rap... proof that he did is second bars off the top of the head. He couldn't have come into the competition knowing that E-Dub would talk about what he was wearing, or that he would call him a skater on X-Games, or that the guy would look like Jabba the Hutt...
