true, but on a couple or 3 occasions, the nonchalance of the offense got us in trouble and we don't have anyone to break down the D when we stand around. If you can't break down the D after milking clock, don't milk it and attack, even if it's early. Milking it and walking it up makes everyone stand around and drives me crazy.

I agree. This team needs to run some more. Not a lot, but just enough to keep a defense off balance.

Would you consider the sec to be down this year?

A little. But I think part of it is Kentucky is so much better than everyone else.

The SEC was still a top five conference.

Despite that, what UT did in conference should not be diminished. They were still picked 11th in a down conference.

Why do you think we were picked 11th?

and not even really try to run. Just get the ball up the floor aggressively and beat the D to their spots, or at least get movement early, rather than standing in a spot and let the D set up and push you out. Running half court offense is fine, but the rule book doesn't say you have to let them get back, communicate and set up.

Did I mention it drives me crazy?

Why do you think we were picked 11th?

1) We lost our three best players, and four starters.

2) They didn't know Jarnell Stokes would come midseason.

3) This is not the kind of team Cuonzo wants.

4) The SEC east was (supposedly) loaded.

5) The unknown. Only Tatum played significant minutes on last year's team.

How about the season as a whole? Including 10-6 in the SEC and finishing in 2nd place?

Folks are just being a bit emotional in the vintage VN reaction. A little perspective is needed.

Look at the Vol season versus, for example, UConn. UConn went from national title to a first-round exit with limited attrition. The Vols on the other hand weathered a horrible off-season of NCAA probing, a coaching change, and administrative fallout. They were rightly picked to battle for last in the conference but ended up winning double-digit conference games.

Outstanding year considering.

I remember after the Austin Peay loss how people actually thought we wouldn't win ten games.

Go look at my SEC Predictions thread. NO ONE had 10-6.

I went 8.

2 months ago this team was on track for a losing season after being predicted to be that bad.

CM kept the course and made his team better. Thats what you want to see out of a young coach.

I agree. I would be pretty concerned if we hadn't shown improvement.

Our "MOTION OFFENSE" doesn't have very much motion:blink: when we walk the ball up the court.

To fall inline with the present VN sentiment...

I refuse to go look at anything reasonable.

Brian Williams is worse than Kenny.

Ok so 2, and 4 imo make the "we were picked to finish 11th and finished 2nd" argument not very compelling. Now should we of finish 2nd? No, but we had a lot of help from other teams.

Now I do believe we overachieved, but anybody in their right mind would of expected more from golden from freshmen to sophomore year, and more from Tatum.

The thing that makes me excited is Maymon and Stokes having one more year together, but we have to get an outside shooter to relieve the pressure.

Martin's inability to motivate his team the last few minutes of a ball game to win the close ones is why next season will be no better than this past year. I have never seen a coach let his guys play their way out of a win by saving timeouts and not ripping into them when needed.

Did you even watch a single game this season?

Because if you were paying attention then your motivation comment makes zero sense.

A little better than I expected so I voted a "6". If we had some guards coming in next season to go with Stokes, Maymon and Makanjoula, I would be real excited about next season. However, I don't see alot changing since we do not have any difference maker guards coming in.

Given the mass exodus of talent and leadership, the coaching change, the off season fiasco, and preseason expectations, solid 8.

Failure. Don't make the dance.... failure. Simple as that. Part of me was somewhat thankful that we lost. It's embarrasing to be in the NIT. The more games we win... the more people see that we're in the NIT.
Such a black eye IMO.

That might be the single most stupid thing I've ever read on here and that is saying something, but then I saw who posted it and thought, "Par for the course".

Haha.... soooo original. That might be the stupidest .... lol. Literally, you say that anytime you disagree with someone. Broken record IMO. Your post is soooo stupid. Bet you're middle schooler.

I'd give it a 6 to 7. 8 for conference play, but 5 for postseason play. We just didn't bring it like we did from Jan-Feb.

We got matched up with a team of guards that could drive the ball and we couldn't stop them down the stretch. Got to fix that next year or we'll be in the same boat.
