I put 9, but only because the USCjr game was so heartbreaking.
This. Now in August if you put what we accomplished on paper and said this is what was going to happen I would say 10. However, once you get past a certain point and the CFP is right there, the magnitude of the South Carolina loss can’t be discounted.

Coach said the best is yet to come.
Sounds like this year was a solid 8 in his opinion as well.

Had to vote a 9 because gettin beatin by cocks is NEVER good,,, especially how it happened this year.
I mean if it was really due to a stupid NIL argument between Hooker (Who I will ALWAYS love) and Banks,,, C'Mon Man!!!

BUTT,,,, I was at Florida win and watching the Buck Fama win at home in fla, was just AWESOME!!! (First time i smoked a Cigar in 15 Fn years!!)

Yes,, if told at the beginning of the year,, Ya da, Ya da, Yada,, it was a 10 BUTT we were SO close,,,,,

Still,,, Ecstatic,, Go VOLS!!!!

Did I “expect” 11-2 with an Orange Bowl win over Clemson by 17 points? NO

Did I “expect” the most points ever? NO

Did I “expect” to see the most “exciting” Vols offense ever……that I can remember? NO

I expected a good solid season. I expected Tennessee to build on last year………..Heupel and company definitely exceeded what I thought would happen………not even sure I thought this could be the ceiling.

No doubt the SC loss sucked and hurt……..however what this team has done has definitely superseded that……and any expectations I had.

Great season Vols

Ending on a huge high, will be excited all off season…….,be a hard on to wait for next season.

Oh and I voted 10, because of expectations vs reality. Unranked to top 5, most points ever, first 11 win in over 2 decades, Orange Bowl win vs a powerhouse……by 17, exciting football again, Players hurt, players leave……job still got done, total rebounds and turnaround from the SC game!!!!!! (If I were “expecting” 10 wins or more maybe this wouldn’t have been a 10 for me….but I wasn’t)

I agree with the sentiment on South Carolina. But since they lost today.... In the words of the great Road D.O. double G I got two words for ya! Therefore the homer in me gave us a 10.

A 10 would have been a CFP berth, but this season so far surpassed what any of us could have hoped for that if there was a 9.5 option I would choose it. Just an amazing, unforgettable season, and as CJH said, the future is incredibly bright here.

If the south carolina loss would've been respectable, as has been mentioned, solid 10. But that was uncalled for something happened, and it showed.

The south Carolina game showed there are some players that need to move on. It also showed that there are less and less of those guys than there was. Outside of the national championship year I can't remember being this happy going into the off season in a very long time.

no doubt

With the 98 team I knew they were really good. I expected them to be really good. By the Georgia game I expected and really thought that team would at least play for a National Championship.

No doubt I was extremely excited and happy; however Tennessee had been really good…..and we’re pretty good afterwards.

Right now (maybe just for me) I’m even more excited and happier. Im so proud to be a Vol fan. Im so proud of our coach, of the team, of the fans, of everyone. We have all suffered for so FREAKIN long, through so much crap……and now it’s just hard to explain (for me).

I know Tennessee isn’t National Champs. I know being an Orange Bowl Champion doesn’t even really mean anything…….but just this season and just for Tennessee to come back from that SC debacle…….it was something special, and this entire season was special because of where Tennessee has come from.

just like Heupel said…….I do believe the best is yet to come!!!!!

10

Normally I wouldn't say that for anything but a champion. But this level of success was so unexpected this year that it gets full marks in my book.

You look back at what happened. In 2017 Tennessee hit rock bottom with the first 8 loss season in school history. Then there was the whole Schiano deal which the media had a field day with. When Pruitt took over it seemed like Tennessee couldn't get any lower, but instead of being the solution he brought drills and blasting equipment. I would have never guessed when Pruitt was fired that in two years Tennessee would have their best season in over 20 years. Definitely a 10 in my book.

Yes I will admit the South Carolina game stung and it did knock Tennessee out of the CFP. However beating Clemson in the Orange Bowl was a pretty nice consolation prize.

I'm keeping it a 9, but the other thing to me is look at our wins. We went 11-2 beating Florida, Bama, LSU, and now Clemson... man, that's a heck of a year.

Edit: add in a 9 win Pitt team and a not terrible Kentucky team and that's just an impressive slate.

I voted a 9, because I think only a national championship deserves a 10. This year’s team was outstanding, and they gave me the best memory of UT football in about 20 years with that Bama win. I was at that game with a couple of alumni friends I hadn’t seen in a few years. We celebrated all night on campus. That’ll stay with me forever.

For me it's a 10. Sure we lost to SC but we beat Florida LSU And ALABAMA!!

Remember that poll preseason were we picked how many games we thought our vols win?
Not many guessed 11 and those that did were offered medication. I hoped for 8
