Rawane Ndiaye to Officially visit this weekend per TOS

Looks like AJ Davis. Find someone. There's better options out there. And if there aren't, then play an unconventional lineup.

Here's the deal...you don't realize what an indictment of this staff what you wrote above in your defense of this staff. Can you read what you just wrote? If Stokes goes pro, we have to rely on a guy that played 9 mins a game at JUCO and avg 2 pts and 3 rebounds a game.

Think about what we've signed instead of another big man or a project that could help us. Edwards, Washpun, Reese, Landry, Miller. Wasted scholarships. And for him to already sign 2 JUCOs that haven't played at all is almost criminal. He's about to waste a 3rd scholarship on another.

AJ Davis can't play center, so somebody has to. I absolutely understand what you're saying about it being a negative on the staff for not having a better option. Here's the thing though, I'm sure the staff realizes this is the year, can they afford to not add a big? I'm sure they're thinking what happens when Stokes gets in FT, or if he gets injured for a game, we have no backup, does that derail our season that's supposed to be THE season? So I'm sure they're basically just looking to add any big body that if nothing else can provide length, rebounding and 5 fouls for them if needed. Can't go into next year with one center who's 6'8" and doesn't even want to play center.

If its true about Yemi, I don't think the staff was expecting this and was planning on him being here. Therefore even if Stokes were to go at less they had him, however all of a sudden you're hit with possibly Stokes and Yemi leaving and are left kind of scrambling. You take 2 centers off of most schools roster and you'll see a staff likely scrambling.

Just some facts. The guy basically rebounds and fouls.

Games played: 13
Minutes played: 96
Personal Fouls: 13
Fouls per 40 minutes: 5.4
Free Throws: 4-10 (40%)
Total rebounds: 45 (approx 1 rebound per 2 minutes on court)
Rebounds per 40 minutes: 18.75

Total blocks on season: 3
Points per 40 minutes: 13.3
Total turnovers 9:
Turnovers per 40 minutes: 3.75

I read some of the pressers from games he played in.
Mostly mop up but in the games he played extended minutes he had double digit rebounds before he fouled out.
Yemi with some attitude?
would probably play enough to give Stokes a breather but wouldn't want him in place of him if it comes to that..

So the rationale is let's just go out and waste a scholarship? It's almost like Zo is being compensated for filling schollies.

No that's not the rational. Just pointing out that "saving" this scholarship for the '14 class is a flawed argument. Martin should have more than enough scholarships for that class.

Here's the deal:

Cuonzo, to the surprise of a large portion of our fanbase, can read numbers. Probably even words. Articulate? Relatable? Maybe we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

Somehow I doubt that he just missed the decimal in 2.5 PPG. Taking a guess that any interest in Ndiaye is not based on in-game performance.

Besides, he'd just be taking another non-PG PG recruit's spot next year anyways, am I right? High five!

FWIW, Ndiaye actually registered 31 fouls last year, or 1 every 3 minutes.

What I'd really like to know is why he played so little in his 2 years at Indian Hills. Aside from injury or illness, there's really only one other possibility: he's just not very good. He only saw more than 8 minutes of action in 4 games, and those were all easy wins for Indian Hills (avg. winning margin of 39 points). I think it's fair to say that most of his production last year came against other teams' scrubs, and keep in mind those were juco scrubs.

Ndiaye has size but not much else. If he ends up at UT, I think it's fair to say that he'll be the least-skilled player we've signed in modern times...or at least since Kirk Naler.

Kirk Naler. That's a blast from the past. Per this article, he actually played a bit more than I remember.

Guess Frank Martin, Johnny Jones and Tony Barbee should all be canned...

“@BFQuinn: On UT juco recruit Rawane Ndiaye, who holds an offer and visited this weekend, I'm told others involved are LSU, South Carolina and Auburn.”

He cant be that bad then if all these other schools see something in him too. Not saying hes gonna be a starter, but if Yemi is leaving im ok with this replacement.

A question and observation.

1) Who "told" Quinn this? The Tennessee staff, Ndiaye's JUCO coach or someone from one of those schools? The Tennessee staff and Ndiaye's coach have a vested interest in making the kid look more attractive.

2) If true, as my momma used to say, "if all the other kids are lining up to jump off a cliff, it doesn't mean you have to."

1. I doubt you, I or anyone on this board know that answer, or will know that answer.

2. While that saying is true, it could also mean that maybe there's some potential there and not quite the dud some are saying.

Very true on No. 1, but I used to be a reporter and I'm skeptical when previously unknown or even hinted at information which deflects criticism from a public figure comes to light. Just seems a little odd that a previously unrecruited JUCO who averaged 7 minutes a game in Ottumwa, Iowa is suddenly being recruited by 25 pct of the SEC.

Never understood recruiting a kid who will probably average more fouls a game than points. Another potential wasted scholarship IMO.

I understand the skepticism no doubt...he apparently hasn't committed or it'd be out by now so who knows

If its a trade for Yemi whatever...you look at the 13th scholarship guy on most teams and he's usually unimpressive.

I think those guys are usually recruited as better players that don't progress and up as the 13th guy......most coaches don't aim for the 13th guy on the bench.
