when did Oku say we were not recruiting him?

I thought he was still taking an official visit here and that we are his leader.

We stopped bugging Oku because he told people he wanted to focus on school and the season he has ahead of him.

Hey, genius, Oku said so himself. Maybe you should do a little homework before you spout off, chief.

this was Oku's comment:

""Honestly I don't really talk to any of the coaches on the phone," Oku said. "A lot of them are e-mailing me. Every school is e-mailing but Tennessee. I honestly don't talk to them much but Coach (Steve) Caldwell is a laid back dude. I have e-mailed back a few of the coaches and told them I am not really talking to anybody, any schools, because I am working and doing football."

The Vols coaches realize they don't need to bother the kid all the time, thats their approach with him. The official visit is scheduled and we were the only school he visited during the summer.. there is no need to over-pursue the kid.

Oku's comments from last month

""Coach Caldwell is one of the best people, and that's hands down," Oku said. "He ain't never talked to me about committing, never pressured me. Never tried to sway me into doing something. He told me he wanted to try to get me down there for camp and see the place. Even when I went down to Tennessee in April, he didn't even say anything to me except to enjoy myself, enjoy the Orange and White game. He's a laid-back person. That's why coach Caldwell gets a lot of commitments, because of his approach."

Sounds like Oku is still interested in UT and UT is still interested in Oku. Seems we are one of the few schools respecting his wishes to be left alone right now to focus on school and his senior season. I think this is a smart move on our coaches part, and will probably work to our advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if we weren't leading for Oku, although we won't know until after his senior season probably.

this guy needs some help with his grades, but from his videos he's my favorite prospect for next year. I REALLY hope he comes to school here, because I like the way he runs the ball.

Just read in the Baton Rouge paper this morning that he has a partial tear in a medial collateral ligament that will not require surgery but he will be sidelined for up to 3 weeks. he was injured in a scrimmage against Zachary High

nyc, know any facts about the hold up with Gerald Williams?

I think it is just a matter of time, but that time could make a difference. I think he has done everything he needs to do, and i dont think there is anyway they rule against him. But the longer it takes for them to get everything squared away from Juco, the more the UCLA game becomes questionable. But i really think that at worst he will be out there vs UAB

Tennessee is no longer recruiting Eddie Lacy, even if he does list us, i know for a fact that the staff is not looking at him.

Just wondering if it's because we are in good standing with Oku or is it just we don't have room and he doesn't project well at any other position.
