Here's an interesting question/scenario...
In Tennessee (and probably many states), when you wish to get a CCP, you have to submit the same documents at the DMV to get your CCP, and to get a new DL with the CC stamp on it. I get that TN is now constiutional carry, but that has limitations, and doesn't cover you crossing state lines. There are 38 reciprocal CC states with TN. And if you carry, you will still need that CCP when you motor into other states. So, if you submit those same documents for a CCP & that stamp on your DL, how is that any different than submitting those documents and having that gold star ??
TN CC process paraphrased, and it's not stringent if you have nothing that would make it difficult for you, ...
1) Take an online course and test for CC, with an added 8 hour in person course if you are applying for CC/OC.
2) Go to TN.gov and fill out the application with proof of course completion. You will get an email of approval with your app#, good for 6 months.
3) Assemble your docs...course certificate, TN.gov approval and app #, DL, SS card, Birth Certificate, two proof of residency forms (utility bills, etc).
4) Go to DMV, provide your docs, pay your fee, get new license with CC stamp.
If you live in any state that has a somewhat comprehensive process of obtaining your CCP, then you have already provided the gov with all the info you will provide for this REAL ID thing. Just sayin....
Additionally, most states already have your finger prints on your DL and on record anyway on the back in that QRC segment.
