Its out there it seems.

Proposal is 15 teams per league (early indication is houston to al). No divisions and teams would be playing for 5 playoff spots.

Im 50/50 on me feelings.

If it takes them back to a balanced schedule, then I'm all for it. I hate seeing teams play each other over and over and over... variety is nice.

Thought about posting this but I ended up posting it in the Astros thread. I don't know why because nobody looks there. lol

I'm okay with the Astros going to the AL West. Would suck not playing the Cubs and Cardinals but other than that, meh. Although I'm not a fan of the DH. It's whatever though.

each league or total? Either way I don't get how it would work.

5 teams each league would mean one team would have a bye. The other 4 play each other, team a vs. team b and team c vs. team d. So team a and team c advance. does the other team that had a bye have another bye??

5 total would mean 1 bye and 2 from each league. In this scenario I don't get it either.

5 each league. 4 and 5 in each league would play a best of three I suppose.

Id much rather send Milwaukee back to where they came from.

And then eliminate divisions? Restructure divisions? Or just continue having 6 teams in one division and 4 in another?

I just don't like the whole 4 team division. Especially when my team plays in a 6 team division. It would be so much easier winning the division against 3 teams than against 5.

sounds like they may eliminate divisions. Id be fine with 3 divisions of 5.

If it were up to me we'd contract the Florida teams and have two leagues of two seven team divisions.

My ideal scenario is to move Houston to the NL West and AZ to the AL West. Keep the eighteen games against divisional opponents, six games against each other team in the league, and rotate AL-NL games by division the way the NFL does.

That makes sense but I think it would be icky. I dislike the idea of no longer playing the Cubs and Cardinals but can live with it if they get to play the Rangers. Would hate having to create all new rivalries.

I believe moving the D-Backs would be the least disruptive. They're a relatively new team that no one gives a damn about anyway. The only problem I see with 15 team leagues is that interleague play will have to be expanded so much, the DH debate will force its hand. Though if it gets rid of the DH once and for all, I suppose it's not a problem afterall.

I don't see any issues with the DH changing. I still don't think you will see any more than 18 interleague games.

That sounds even better, but Selig will be gone before the Brewers turn back to the AL.

Which I just remembered is happening after next season.

It would put the best teams in the playoffs but I just can't see it ever happening. There is so much tradition in winning your division and so many rivalries that are based out of division play.

If they made it 1 champ everyone else is out, I'd sign off tomorrow.

I say move Pittsburgh to the AL. You have the Cubs/White Sox, Yankees/Mets, Nats/Orioles, Reds/Indians, Cards/Royals, Rangers/Stros, Angels & A's/Dodgers & Giants in separate leagues. Probably more I've missed also. Why not the Philly/Pitt rivalry in separate leagues?

Every rivalry you mentioned is a figment of your post strike imagination.

Just sayin. I would like to have two 15 team leagues. No divisions. Top 4 max makes playoffs.

Major problem I have with eliminating divisions is that it becomes so easy to add more playoff teams. Divisions limit the number (except for the guys wanting to throw in more wildcard teams) so that you don't end up like the NBA with over half the damn league in the post-season.

True. I wouldn't have a problem with more teams getting in if the first couple of rounds were one game. I think that way, the lower teams have a disadvantage.

If you had 6 teams per league, top 2 get byes. team 3 plays 6 and team 4 plays 5. The teams are going to have to throw their ace to advance. Next round, they are going to have to throw their number 2 against the other teams ace.
