Realignment?

The article on ESPN today mentioned Florida Marlins as a candidate to the AL.

No diff than AFC west for football.

But they only have to travel to each team once(3 total). In baseball, you have to travel to each team three times apiece(12 total).

I know teams have to travel all over anyways but that seems farther than most for division games except maybe the Rangers and Astros. The combination of traveling to and from Seattle, Oakland and L.A. is 30,000 miles. But it is for the Rangers as well.

I don't know... I mean, it can be done obviously. Just saying it would suck if you're the Royals. They barely have to travel to get to Minnesota, Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit.

So after thinking about it... the Astros probably would make the most sense. The extra mileage wouldn't be near as bad to them as it would be to KC. Also, it appears the Royals have the lowest payroll in baseball this season. I doubt those cheapskates would want to spend more on travel expenses.

KC was originally in the west.

Payroll is irrelevant. Will win the central in two years.

Will lose their best players to the Yankees in three. :p

Is it still a joke if it's true?

F'n Yankees.

They clearly weren't afraid to dish out 55 million for Meche and 36 million for Guillen.

But that doesn't come close to matching what the Yankees will offer if they want em' bad enough. They've given who knows how many guys 50 million dollar contracts. They signed a few to 100 million. They wipe their butt with 50.

I for one hope they do win the division soon. I think it would be great for the game.

Yeah, I dislike everyone else in their division anyways. It's always good to see a team win with good management rather than opening up their checkbook and signing every single all-star.

Agreed. If I had to pull for one other team in that division, it'd be the Twins.Being able to win after their flirtation they had with retraction is a good story. But they have been consistently winning. The Royals would be someone different.

I don't like the idea that interleague play will become so prevalent. In the 15 and 15 format, interleague play will always be going on. I'd rather a set up of 4 Divisions (East/West in each league) and play it out from there. No need to move anyone from the NL over.

If this could spare us from the 5,000 Yankees/Red Sox games every season then I say go for it. Sorry Yankees/Sox fans, but I can't buy into one of the greatest rivalries in sports when they seem to be playing each other all of the time.

They play as much as any 2 other divisional teams. Missing your point.

And particularly when one team has dominated the other this season.

Maybe it's just the hype they get every time they play, but I have a hard time buying into one of the greatest rivalries in sports when they seem to play every other week, yet Yankees and Rays or Red Sox and Orioles is just another game when they play every team the same amount of times.

It makes sense to just move the Astros to the AL West. The NL Central has 1 team more than they need and the AL West needs 1 more team.

Lets see, like it or not, they are both teams with national followings. If you're a national network, are you going to take Boston/NYY and pump it up prior to airing it, or are you going to try to get the nation fired up with the intrigue of a Rays/Royals Sunday night.

Get your head out of your ass for a few minutes now and then.

So because I get tired of Yankees/Red Sox hype by May my head is up my ass? There are 30 teams. I'm sure those two aren't the only ones who play good baseball.

15 teams in each league, Houston moves to AL.

Top 4 teams to the playoffs in each league. Best of 3 LDS, then best of 5 LCS, then best of 7 WS.

Every team plays each team in their league ten times. 140 league games. Then you play 5 teams in the other league for a four game series and rotate them every three years. That gives you a 160 games. You can take out two games (JMO). It won't matter.

JMO.

i agree with that guy. the brewers move to al because them and the reds are the only competition for the cardinals and i just cant stand the brewers and if kansas city movew to the al west it means we will only have 1 or 2 series with them, not 4 or 5

How did that ever come to be?

it created even leagues so that interleague play didn't have to get involved for every team to be playing. 14 teams in the AL, 16 in the NL. 15 and 15 leaves an odd team out in each league.
