Realistic Florida Coaching Candidates?

ESPN radio reports Jim McElwain to be the front runner for the job. Whatever that's worth. Sorry if this is old news.

hell no we wouldnt pay that for a guy with one or 2 good years at CSU on his resume :eek:lol:

i guess its only 7.5 mill but still too much

7.5 million for mcelwain plus 6.3 or so for firing muschamp.

That's 13.8 million before salary talks and if you owe any other assistants.

I've said it from the start guys, its gonna be kiffin. You just wait. God knows I can't stand him, but all the live he's got all year Florida is gonna bite hook, line, and sinker!

he'll still be coaching on bama sidelines by the time we make the hire

Freeze would excel @ UF. However, comparing the pressure to win there v.s Ole Miss is like night and day. The natives will be expecting a 9 or 10 win season in year one.

Freeze to UF would be great now (richmond and others in recruitng hopefully) but hurt later because of how great a coach he is.

He should have taken the job, a lot easier to win the East than the West. Overtaking Missouri or overtaking Alagump...no brainer

It's a mistake to assume that the expectations aren't as high at Ole Miss. Look at Cut and Nutt's records there.

Last sentence sounds wrong. :eek:lol:

The Gators should hire Johnny Majors. I saw him just the other day, he's tanned, rested, and ready!!

I'm surprised Florida would look at the Saban tree again. Has anyone other than Fisher and Dantonio done anything as head coach of a major program?

I bet it is Mike Gundy. It makes too much sense. The spiked hair, visor, and spray tan scream Florida. Not to mention T Boone hates him.

It won't be Hugh Freeze. I would bet any amount of money it will be one of Josh McDaniel, Greg Schiano, or Jon Gruden

Just read Foley is flying out to meet with Jim McElwain at the moment - I don't know much about him. Y'all think the Gators will like him?

Probably been answered in the other thread but would the gators really pay that buyout?

No doubt they could but it seems Foley wants this guy with the 22-16 record at Colorado St....Interesting no doubt

On the one hand, I like that he is offensive minded, and that he had so much success with Alabama as their assistant. On the other, I truly have to wonder what he can do on the recruiting trail in South Florida, coming in now from Colorado State. What links does he have to that region?

To me, that is a top three criteria for the job: you have to show results south of Lake Okeechobee. That's where the speed and size are.

Worrisome.
