Realistic Florida Coaching Candidates?

On the one hand, I like that he is offensive minded, and that he had so much success with Alabama as their assistant. On the other, I truly have to wonder what he can do on the recruiting trail in South Florida, coming in now from Colorado State. What links does he have to that region?

To me, that is a top three criteria for the job: you have to show results south of Lake Okeechobee. That's where the speed and size are.

Worrisome.

What links did Urban have with that region? You can always hire assistants who can recruit that region

He just needs to get out of the way and let the winning happen. That's the Main Thing.

He recruited the Fla some at Bama. Landed Star Jackson and Dee Hart.

If he is the guy his first calls need to be Larry Porter then Lance Thompson.

This.

If hr keeps TRob he good on Fla. Lawing should be retained for hid connections in Carolina's and Ga.

you think we land atleast 1 of cowart, ivey jefferson?

and do you think we can atleast shoot up into the top 30 in class rankings?

if the guy can coach football and gets our offense lookin good again you dont have to worry about his recruiting thats what assistants are for and honestly fla sells it self when we have goood coaches

You'll likely land all three.

I'm surprised Florida would look at the Saban tree again. Has anyone other than Fisher and Dantonio done anything as head coach of a major program?

Fisher only gets by because he recruits at Alabama's level and plays at most half the amount of competitive teams that they do.

So I should clarify something: no one is answering the door when we knock. Foley went inside and is meeting with McElwain.

I heard Durkin will be staying and that's part of the deal should McElwain get hired. How would you Gators feel about that?

Rumors is Trob and Lawing IF they want to stay.

Early names to that may join staff are Lance Thompson and Billy Napier(OC).

Raid Bama!!!!!!

I grew up in the Muck and can help yall out down there. I despise UF, but my services can probably be bought for the right price.

First call needs to be to keep T-Rob on staff.

UF should control the Glades like they did in the late 80's-90's. The movers and shakers down there are heavily UF oriented and UM has never had the recruiting presence they should for only being 75 miles away.

Edit: should've kept reading saw you mentioned T-Rob staying. If yall raid Bama leave Cristobal. He and T-Rob could lock it down from PBC - Dade.

McElwain was an offensive coordinator.

at Bama 2 NC and Fresno when they set WAC total offense and passing records.

The thing I most is he incorporates spread, power runs from pistol and diamond sets with 4/5 Wr stuff.

Not a splash or sexy but very good hire jmo.

Wanted Stoops or Patterson.

I was responding to a since-edited post about McElwain's prowess. Too late :)

I think this is a really good hire. I have some friends affiliated with CSU and after the administration elbowed Lubick out, they really messed up with Steve Fairchild. Once McElwain got in he fixed CSU in relatively short order. A great offensive coach with HC experience -- he'll do well, I think.
