2013: Beat Vandy (extremely important for in-state recruiting), make a bowl game, win said bowl game.

2014: Win convincingly on the road against a good SEC team (UGA/USC seem likely), compete for four quarters in every game, win at least 8 games. Finish the season ranked 20-25. Top 15 recruiting class.

2015: Compete and have a chance to win against all SEC teams, win at least 9-10 regular season games, beat Florida. Finish season ranked 12-20. Top 10 recruiting class.

2016: Beat Alabama, make a BCS bowl/playoffs. Finish in the top 5. Top 5 recruiting class. UT is back, *****es.

Sounds good to me. Though 2014 scares me because we lose a damn good oline

What burns me up is that we should be entering "2015" this year, or even "2016" if we had hired the right coach in January 2010.

Honestly I think we have some fairly decent players and with the some right breaks and a little damn luck for once we might throw out an respectable season.
Really depends on our defense though.

I hope our players are even more tired than we are of losing. :dunno: :hmm:
Our seniors have gone through tough times, they deserve to have a good season, damn it.

Fla will be lucky to win the east while coach Willie is there. They lost a lot on defense this year plus their DC. I easily see 5 losses for them next year. Most of the fla fan base still isn't sold on cwm.

Scary thing is that with the way they recruit they still have as much talent as almost anyone in the country. Were gonna have to severly outcoach them if were going to win one in the next 3 years. Hopefully by then we will have the talent they do if all goes as planned for butch.

2014 could be even worse than 2013 considering our one surefire strength (offensive line) will be mostly gone. We aren't exactly bleeding depth at those positions, so even if we sign a nasty group of linemen next year, it's still probably going to take an extra year to get to the OP's 2014 expectations. And that's assuming Butch is even the right guy.

Probably pretty good expectations but I honestly think you were a little conservative overall, especially with recruiting class rankings. Proof will be in the pudding, but I can see them pulling a top 10 class next year and beyond given their work ethic and the talent they're going after/offering. Concerned about losing that O line too but I think once they get it going winning and excellent classes will take care of everything. Optimistic right now.

My goal for the program is simple. Improve continuously. I believe CBJ is a coach and will teach these kids the game more than they have seen to this point. I want to see the results of that coaching out in the field as the program starts to ascend.

i'm not that far-sighted but here's my take on 2013:

-beat Austin Peay, W.KY, South 'bama, Mizzou, Vandy and UK.
*i know we lost to mizzou and vandy last year; bottom line: we have better players and if this coaching staff is as good as advertised we don't lose to inferior teams like did last season.

-probably lose at Oregon, Florida and Bama. We may have a shot with an overrated Florida team but Bama and Oregon? on the road? no chance.

-We have a shot against UGA and SCAR. both are home games and we were competitive last year. we clearly lost some big time talent but with the new staff and scheme, hopefully it clicks. if so, these become games we can win.

-Auburn is the wildcard. they sucked rhino-a$$ last season but they've still managed to parlay their last NC into top 10 recruiting classes every year. the roster has talent and depth, and now they at least have a solid OC for a head coach. who knows which Auburn team shows up next season!

if we beat the 6 teams we absolutely are better than and split the UGA, SCAR home games...that's 7 wins. get some lucky breaks, pull an upset on the road vs Florida or at home vs Auburn...8 games is possible. that's not where i wanna be but it would show drastic improvement and definitely help recruiting.

just my long winded 2 cents...

Yeah 4 year plans suck, especially now that we are doubling that effort again...I know it is going to be tough next year, but given that, time to win now...I don't mean necessarily next year.

Winning a bowl game is the definite priority of 2013.

I think we have to temper expectations on W/L in 2014. I think bowl game is again the performance priority for the team.

However, Top 15 class will not be good enough for Butch in 2014. He's got to be Top 10 and prove he is in the hunt and in the mix with the SEC elite.

I think this is pretty realistic and reasonable - I would be more than satisfied with this. Unfortunately, some will agree and then tear CBJ a new one over our first loss this year. That's just the nature of VN.

I agree with everything you said except Oregon. I believe our Offense Will put up enough points to win this game. If our Defense is even 25% better then last year we have a good chance of winning. it wasn't our offense that let us down last year it was Defense!!! Oregon IMHO is slightly overated...notice I said slightly.
