With the chance to coach in the SEC with a team with the winning tradition UT has had in the past, there are a lot of coaches out there that would be interested in the job with a reasonable offer. Dabo Swinney,Chris Peterson, Charlie Strong, Gus malzahn, and several other experienced head coaches with winning records would be some possibilities.
forget fulmer....hes washed up..his prime years were from 1993-2001. After that he started going downhill...he got sloppy in recruiting and got lazy and the team result suffered cause of it. Gruden NOT A CHANCE!! I dont know bout much of the others...but who is the best coach out there that can realistically turn this program around??? Who is in the know about all this stuff and knows the good coaches from the bad?? We cant settle for nothing less then an awesome coach, cause if we want seats filled next season at the palace on the hill then we HAVE to get a big hire!!! another mediocre coach will have a half empty house next season....
I think UT is prepared to pay 4 -5 million to get a good SEC coach. There are not any candidates I have seen mentioned (except Gruden) who would merit that type of money though. Hope Hart doesn't shove KSmart(kmart) down our throat and pay that dork 4 million to coach 3 years then get run out of town
this was the only list that was even posted regarding the original question of who are the candidates. Mahlzan was mentioned. All of these coaches do not need to be at UT. It is still a prestigious job. The next coach would get a pretty good roster next year. outside of gruden, our coaching list SUX!Strong
Smart
Tuberville
Mullen (possibly)
Golden (possibly - was misled about the trash heap that the U really is right now, might be willing to bolt)
Patterson (possibly, but seems pretty tied to Fort Worth)
I would be happy with any of the above, but Gruden isn't coming. Period.
Boise St. coach! UT is listed as one of the five jobs that might entice him to leave Boise St. He has a remarkable record as a winner and I believe he is capable of winning in the SEC.:good!:
Let's see 1 year from SECG, 152-52, NC. I hate to repeat myself, but do you care to spin this? Also; I agree with that part of your post.
Jury still out on whether he can win in the SEC. Has he ever beaten an SEC team? i don't recall that he has. I could be wrong. i saw his teams beat Oregano and Chokelahoma. Not sure about him. Looks good on paper. May not look so good on UT's campus right now.May not look very good against Saban either. We need Gruden. All the other candidates are just that... candidates to see if they can win in the SEC(except tuberville).do we really want tuberville? Remember when he snaked Ole Miss? Boise St schedule is a joke. Could somebody post Boise St schedule please? not bashing. Just don't want that coach. gruden or bust
