Not whip our ass before the end of the 2nd quarter better than us.

Feel this is appropriate in another crappy thread you've started. the incessant *****ing and moaning around here is unreal. So, the spread was 10-40, and it ended up being 14-59. Big f'ing deal. We all knew it, and nobody remotely close to rational expected yesterday to go well. Gibbs comment about the talent disparity not being obvious is so asinine, and indicative of the Legion of the Miserable.

We've got the SEC schedule starting next week with FL having two weeks to prepare for us. This schedule is a gauntlet. If we're 3-9 at the end of the season, and the coaching has looked like this all season, sure, let's start circulating a petition. But until then, grow a pair, see how it plays out. I don't care what our offense looks like as long as we win.

Do you remember how bad our D was last year?

Well, we have the same players, and no offense. The D is getting better though. Last years team would have given up 500 rushing yards and the Ducks would have had 50 pts by halftime.

A third digit would have been needed on the scoreboard with last years D.

Positive: Our coaches got a first hand lesson in how to play the up tempo game.
Now, get the players to do it.

I don't think anyone knows the answer. Worley does do a good job of commanding the offense, but he needs to develop his talent.

Honestly, I think he's too worried about screwing up and/or losing the starting job that it affects his game-play.

Then bench him and let him earn it back.....

I saw a team that didnt give up in the second half, They stuck to there guns and played the game. This is a huge improvement over last year.

Help a Vol fan out.

I was really drinking the CBJ Kool-Aid (and I never drank the Kiffin / Dooley and Sal snake oil).

But I just can find no positives from this. I don't really want to hear about "realism" or "nega". We got out-coached, out-played, out-manned, and out-performed in every aspect as far as I can tell. We are a long and mighty walk from SEC respectability.

I expected a loss, but I expected it to still be a game before halftime. It made the Dooley game look respectable.

Right now, I think the only positive will be if CBJ and the coaches can hold this team together. My faith is shaken. We might be headed for our first eight loss season in our history.

What part of we do not have much talent don't you understand???...I mean seriously, You can't win the Kentucky derby with a mule.

Also- I do think that neither Ferg nor Dobbs see action this year. The core of the offense is the QB, and I think Butch wants to use the QBs that he recruited with his stellar, upcoming recruiting class(es). Get them to learn the plays and teach them how to lead, then let them loose with as many years as you can get from them.

My thought as well -

what's strange is they have the same average recruiting ranking as us even accounting for attrition. Obviously most of our superstars went to the NFL but..... you have got to see how bad the coaching change hurts.

CBJ may not be the best play-calling coach in the world but if he keeps recruiting like this it may not matter.

so a positive? we have a good recruiting class coming in.

The only positive I see is that you appear to be young enough to go out and get a life. I hate to break this to you, but nobody cares that your "faith is shaken".

It just brought many back down to reality, that we still have 2-3 more years before we become competitive again. It's a hard pill to swallow after living through the past 5 years.

This.

While I was expecting a 6-6 season, I was expecting us to compete longer than we did in this game.

This was a reminder that we have a long, long, way to go.

I have an idea for Butch. How bout we go for it on 4th down just one time to make it look like we're actually trying.

Not one positive at all for the Vols, with the exception of learning who we are....hope the kids don't have a hard time getting over the Blowout because now the schedule gets really tough....5-7 may indeed be a blessing, but 4-8 may be more realistic

There are no positives and nothing to gain for playing a game like this when you are rebuilding.

If you measure the results of this game only in terms of the potential damage to the team's psyche incurred by losing so badly, I agree. However, Butch keeps preaching about what it takes to perform at a championship level and the fact that this team is learning and growing but nowhere near that level. The Oregon game can serve as a teaching tool, illustrative of a team that is, indeed, playing at the level necessary to win a national championship.
