i would rather have gruden bring in a super staff.
But who knows about that.
when you look at our team and our coaching staff the obvious problem is defense and special teams. we need to:
1. Fire Dooley, he will never out coach anyone.
2. Don't fire Chaney. He has done wonders with this offense and we have put up alot of points on good sec defenses this year.
2B. keep all the Offensive coachs the same. I see improvement every on that side of the ball expect for TEs
3. hire a defensive minded coach. I would rather have an ok offense and amazing Defense. We have the worst defense in our existance.
4. demote sal to LB coach. idk if you could do this with out things becoming really wierd. But it would save you some money and he is a good coach
5. clean house on the defensive side. Its obvious why
6.hire a proven coach. You know what. i say we hire VT's coach he has had alot of good seasons there.
And they have always had good special teams.
This does not mean anything. They have not beaten any solid teams and he has recruited horribly. On top of that, many of his wins have come by small margins. We can't take a chance on somebody else not developing.
Strong would be a major upgrade over Dooley. But I don't see UT going in that direction nor do I see them going after Gruden. He just signed a 5 year contract last year with ESPN. Sean Payton would be a nice hire, but Jerry Jones has deeper pockets than Haslem.
Silly about Petrino or Stoops
The entire post!
State everything you said again and present the strong points of each suggestion if you feel good about them..
And remember, the strong points have to out weigh the weak points for your argument to be considered viable!
you and I both know that ain't gonna happen..

It has been discussed in previous threads that Stoops is going stale with OU and the facility upgrades he was promised have not taken place. He has been a sucessful coordinator in the SEC and IMO if we are going to spend big money Stoops would listen. Not saying he would take it but we should make him say no.
Tubberville has had sucess in the SEC in the past and I think he would be looking to get back into the SEC. Not sure he has a strong point other than he has won in the SEC and is probably not the sexy hire everyone wants but would be a solid hire.
On Petrino who would you rather have him or Smart? I would go to Strong before either of these 2 but if it came down to the 2 I say Petrino.

Big game bob. Need I say more?

Scared of nick saban, and will not recruit well enough!

We agree on this one!
Ok he made 1 good decision out of how many decisions and most of that because he had experience so much turnover. Also don't get ahead of yourself Chaney didn't start call good games until the GA game and the Alabama game was horribly called also. And Suneri was his hire too is that showing good leadership qualities?
We agree on this one!
I agree with your points and Stoops is a pipe dream and at OU he has 2 big games a year that he tends to lose at least 1 of them. So I am not sure how he would fare here with 5-6 big games a year.
In reality if Dooley is not retained I think we will end up rolling the dice on Smart or Strong.
No Strong..he will be the same as Dooley!!!!!!!!!
Patterson would be HUGE.....I wanted him last time
Strong would be no 2 behind Patterson

Smart is not an option
Please move on from Patterson. He has it made in FTW and is going to be...wait for it...le-gen-dary there! If tcu was still in the mntn west or even in the big east then there could be a small possibility. But now in the big 12 he has no reason to move. Don't use other people's money either as a reason he would come to UT. Trust me there is plenty of money in FTW to go around, and they don't have to disclose how much he makes either cause they r a private school.
Just move on from him y'all.
Strong isn't going to anything to get this place on track quickly either. He'll have to continue bldg, and there's no patience for that. A new coach needs to be a guaranteed big win guy from day 1 or we are just shooting ourselves in the foot by letting Dooley go before the projected time for the rebuild. Personally I'm patient now but won't be with the next guy especially if he's making 2-3 times more than Dooley. Just all IMHO that's all...

Whatever the case , all these coaches mentioned will be picked up quick! A decision on a new coach needs to be made soon or there will not be any left.
Charlie Strong at Auburn is a scary thought. Not too far away from Florida, and right smack dab in the heart of two of the best states for high school talent in the nation. His strengths as a recruiter would be in full force.
