recruiting celebrations

even though derelick has tried to make this personal, let me try it this way:

I don't understand paying 25 bucks a pop to listen to coachspeak about incoming freshmen and more promises.

Yes, I'm looking at it that way. My idea would be to celebrate things that matter. We don't even know if any of these kids will become the studs that derelick dreams they will.

I suppose it is just a pep rally of sorts?

I get it, I guess.

It would get us away from reading your posts. That's something to celebrate.

its just an opportunity for Tennessee fans to get together and socialize with other Tennessee fans, current coaches / support staff and former players. The focus is much more social as a "celebration". Had to call it something...

But there are UT fans that don't care for that. to each his own..

I gotcha. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes.

It's like the Catalina Wine Mixer...

all i see is a man costing his team by getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. good job.
and recruiting celebration parties have to be the*weirdest*idea ever. I guess since we can't celebrate titles, or bowl victories, or winning seasons, we might as well celebrate something that only matters if and when the kids pan out.

Stay positive there die hard.

Don't celebrate your kids' birthdays. After all, they may not turn out to be as successful and discerning as you.

I'm sorry if it went over your head. These are kids. They have dreams. They have put in tremendous efforts to get where they are. They have reason to celebrate and we have reason to show we recognize and appreciate their accomplishments. Kids are kids, whether they are mine or someone else's. Also, I attended the Nashville meeting last year. It was not, as you characterized it, celebrating unfulfilled promise of those kids. We were able to meet people in person that we knew only from online. We got to meet the HC and staff (on stage but also individually afterward). We got to meet former players. We were able to address questions to people with the answers. We learned some things about the recruits. Also, after the past few years, it was nice for us in Nashville not to feel surrounded by Vandy fans. Don't bother responding. I read some of your comments and know how little to expect. As for the FOTY comment, my kids, grandkids and great grandkids have the benefit of being with someone that tries to instill a positive outlook and appreciation of the efforts and dreams of others. My condolences to any kids you may have.

Like I said before your first snarky response, I kinda get it the more I think about it. It's a mixer.

Looking back, it appears you set the tone. Now you cry your little eyes out when it comes back to you.

You indicated your lack of interest in the event. I'm certain those attending will appreciate your absence.

you only know that because you were there and you weren't too mad about what was happening.

I'm beginning to get a bead on you from all of your middle school playground level attempts at humorous retorts.

You went all Butch (even though you were supposed to be Zed)and tried to impale me with a plastic lightsaber when I wouldn't put on the Gimp outfit before I left...it was funny watching Coy and Vance's ballgagged expressions when you downed half a jar of Cialis ...why does the local law enforcement people protect your little operation? :ermm:
