Recruiting Finish

I think we have legit chances with these people:

Watson, Pappoe, Haselwood, Wright, Ebiogbe.

I feel strongly about Pappoe, Wright, and Gray.

Watson, Eboigbe, and Haselwood in descending levels of confidence.

No confidence in Anderson (SC), HT (BAMA), Crouch (MICH), Emery (LSU), or Nolan(UGA).

There are a lot of butterfly effects to had with these guys. One in the boat greatly increases the odds for others. I don’t think Wright will be the first public (we know he’s waiting), I think Pappoe will hold out as long as possible, prob same with Watson. Their commitments have personal ties involved. I think they’ll minimize their exposure before ESD. I think it’s Gray first.

So we take players from Michigan, Auburn, Georgia, Alabama and Texas? That would be so sweet.

Excited to see the staff bringing in more and more high profile recruits as the weeks go by. I'm curious to see where everyone thinks we are at with some of the big name recruits that haven't committed yet. Here's my take. I don't have any inside information. I'm just a regular lurker

Wright - seems to be all but publicly committed - 90% chance he signs with the Vols

OP - seems to be fairly split between us and barn, trending in our direction - I'll say 60% chance he ends up in orange (and white)

Haselwood - we seem to be picking up traction here, nuggets from last night make me think we're a serious contender - 40% chance he signs with the good guys

Kenyatta Watson - trending in the right direction, wanya in his ear - 50% chance he's a vol

Crouch - slight long shot at this point but seemed to like us a lot early, a good visit and we're back in the thick of it - odds at 20% imo

To'oto'o - feel good about where we are here, not a lot of noise as of late but that could be good - 50% chance he's Knoxville bound

John Emery - longest shot out of everyone listed in my opinion - 10% chance he's a vol

Justin Eboigbe - seems to have a good relationship with the staff and looks like a freak - 30% chance he ends up on Rocky Top

Curious to hear everyone's takes and would love to see your best guess at quantifying the odds particularly those of you who are on here everyday

Final prediction: we finish with the 6th ranked class in the country. Pruitt leading us in the right direction headed into year 2

My levels of confidence is descending order.. just as a guy who surfs and posts regularly/near daily on VNR:

5* OT Darnell Wright: overwhelming hunch is he's all-VOL.

4* RB Eric Gray: Barring a surprise with Emery, I think we flip him from Michigan without much issue. VOL.

4* LB Henry To'oto'o: Maybe I sound harsh, especially as Tennessee is a loooong way from CA, but I feel like if he were taking us seriously, he'd be in for the weekend. Maybe he's got a firmer visit date set down the road, but him canceling on UT this weekend doesn't bode well for us IMO. ALABAMA

4* Khafre Brown: He's ours if we want him.. doubt he'd pick UNC over us. He'll be our contingency as we miss out on Haselwood. VOL.

5* LB Owen Pappoe: I tend to be an optimist about Vols football.. less so about recruiting (wasn't really feeling ITS or Griffin last cycle, lo and behold..) I do think he winds up on the Hill. Less uncertainty here than on the plains. VOL.

5* WR Jordan Haselwood: Putting JH here because I wouldn't be surprised if he's just putting feelers out. Then again maybe he saw the Auburn highlights, or any of Memphis' offensive highlights over the last couple years.. Not confident in anything about this kid, but he will help any team he signs to. Would love to be wrong, but NON-VOL.

4* DE Justin Eboigbe: This weekend could be utterly massive in swinging JE away from Bama. Different recruits value different things.. playing time isn't the first priority for everyone. If CJP sells early PT to JE, he's a Vol. But plucking him away from the most dominant program of the generation is a tall order. I think he sticks with ALABAMA.

4* CB Kenyatta Watson Jr: I don't know what the recent rumblings are about, but apparently he's trending? Helps having Wanya (and maybe Pappoe depending on who is planning to sign in December) in his ear. I like where this is heading, despite Texas being stronger on the field right now. Maybe Tom Herman can keep up the douchebaggery. In the end, VOL.

4* RB John Emery: Who knows? Maybe we can work a miracle. I haven't checked out his player thread very much, but I thought he was a lean to LSU. I'mma say LSU.

I would love to be reminded of this come February, see how wrong I am (because we sign all of them)

Alright... lets be real here for a moment and talk about how this class is going to finish.

I think at this point we can say that Darnell Wright is a Vol. He's as much a lock as you can have without the guy being committed. We're the only place that he has visited this much and I wouldn't be surprised if VQ already shot the commitment video when they went to WV. He's a Vol. That gives us 2 top 15 5 stars in this class.

The VQ guys are basically saying that Eric Gray is going to flip to the Vols. That seems imminent. Gray is a Vol. Khafre Brown is also a Vol if we want him according to VQ.

Now, maybe I'm dreaming, but I am extremely confident in Pappoe. This kid grew up a Vols fan and before Butch ruined it, we were considered his leader. He visited us a ton his freshman and sophomore year. He has always loved the Vols. Now all of the sudden he is returning to his first love. Auburn is struggling on the field in spite of the talent that they have and they most likely will get blown out in their final two SEC games. Meanwhile, he knows that TN is just getting started building and he has very close relationships with our coaching staff. He has suddenly begun visiting frequently coming twice this month. He is also going to visit us officially the last weekend before the early signing period when he plans to sign. This is huge. Plus, someone who is supposedly connected to GA recruits, Junior Baker, has predicted a flip to TN. This seems like its going to happen barring some great change like him choosing UGA for some reason. I don't think he'll end up at Auburn. I think he's a Vol. That would give us 3 top 15 5 stars in this class.

If he comes, Kenyatta Watson coming looks even more likely than it does already. VQ seems to be indicating that he is seriously considering flipping to TN anyway. If we land Pappoe, Watson is coming imo. Or it may go the other way and we land Watson first. If that happens, Pappoe is coming with him. Junior Baker has also predicted him to flip to TN. I feel pretty confident that we land Watson also.

That leads us to Haselwood. A week ago we weren't even talking about him. But now, suddenly there is a lot of smoke about him and TN. He is close to the Grayson guys that I just mentioned and if we land them, Haselwood is probably coming too. Miami is going down under Mark Right and I'm sure that Haselwood can see that. OU could be his destination or he could end up back at UGA, but VQ said in the war room last night that not only is he going to take an OV here but he will also likely visit two more times as well. How many times does that happen and the recruit not end up at that spot? The famous line in recruiting is to follow the visits. This is one to watch especially if we land Pappoe. If we land him that we give us another top 15 5 star and our 3rd top 10 5 star player.

There is quietly a lot of smoke around Ebiogbe as well. He is visiting this weekend and I don't know where the buzz is coming from, but it is definitely there. Junior Baker has also predicted him to flip to TN. I'm not sure about him, but he is one of the biggest needs and I hope that Baker is as connected as Geaux and others have said.

Crouch, he's probably going to Clemson, but he changes his mind so much it may come down to whoever gets the last visit.

Right now I feel very confident that we land Wright, Pappoe, Brown, and Gray, and I feel pretty good about Haselwood if he indeed visits as many times as VQ says. A lot can change though between now and signing day and who knows what could change if we go 0-3 to finish out the season. But, on November 9th, this is looking pretty good to me and if we land these guys we are looking at a potential top 5 class but definitely a top 10 class and a quick rebuilding foundation.

What ya'll think?

@Ron Swanson @Big Gucci Sosa @Geaux_Vols
I believe Darnell Wright is a Vol. Very confident.

Ive been confident ever since Jeremy Pruitt was hired that we could get back in on Owen Pappoe, and be right there in the end, with whoever, to land him; and Ive never wavered (on the possibility of us getting back in it), even when he committed to Auburn. Its like a few have said, we ARE his first love, and now we have a coach. I'm very confident we flip him, which gives us a great shot of flipping Kenyatta Watson. I'm not saying that happens, I'm still not completely sold on him decommiting from Texas... from what I've read, him and his family LOVE the place. Yet, we flip Pappoe, it does nothing but give us a much better chance.

I believe we flip Eric Gray. I don't think he really wants to play that far away at Michigan, and he likes this staff; not to mention there's been a lot of buzz here for weeks.

I believe we land JaVonta Payton, leaving Khafre Brown out.

Quavarous Crouch, Justin Eboigbe, and Jadon Haselwood...I'll believe it when I see it. Think Crouch ends up at Clemson, Eboigbe stays with Bama, and Haselwood probably goes back to UGA. I don't believe it will happen with any of them; but if it does, I can see Haselwood following the Grayson boys.

And Henry T...I believe we are right there with Bama, neck and neck; but, I think Bama more than likely wins out in the end.

And there's also the great chance that I am utterly and completely wrong...about all of them.

Go Vols.

Wright, Brown, and Gray.
The rest are pipe dreams. JMHO.

I love the fact UT is asking the prettiest cheerleaders in the school to go to the prom, but don't be left holding your junk when they all say no and have to ask the fat tuba player instead.

So let me see if I have this right... We are the only program that has buzz this time of year. Because there has been numerous occasions that we didn't get the players there was buzz around, we should not get excited because we will not get all of the them. But we should come to the recruiting forum daily (or hourly) to see if there is any buzz around any players.

Das it mane.

I was bored so I used the class calculator on 247 to project where we would finish and scaled it against last years final class numbers. People keep posting, if we added this guy and this guy we would move up to sixth, but by comparing back to previous classes we get a better idea of where other teams will finish as well.

I started by adding the rest of the Greyson Trio and Wright (all of whom I believe to be headed our way): This raises our score to 270.98 which would have placed 10th in the 2018 class and 8th in the 2017 class

Then I added Eric Gray who I think is the most likely RB that we add to the class - would love Crouch or JEjr, but it seems unlikely: This raises our score to 273.86, but keeps us at 10th and 8th respectively

If we add Haselwood, which seems like we have a fair chance at (maybe 1-3), then our class rating would jump to 283.36, which would place us at 8th in 2018 and 8th in 2017, as well.

If you are interested in trying it out yourself, here is the link: click here

You can play out your pipe dream scenarios like adding Crouch, Travon Walker, and Nolan Smith in addition to the guys listed above.

GBO! Here is to hoping we finish strong!
